The National Security Group Solutions Architecture team provides technical leadership in support of sales strategy, customer engagement, and solution development for defense, intelligence, and civilian national security agencies. The team works closely with account teams and customers to identify mission challenges, uncover growth opportunities, and design integrated technical solutions that improve operational effectiveness, security, resiliency, and compliance.

As a strategic leader within the sales organization, this role serves as the principal technical architect and trusted advisor for AT&T Public Sector Solutions customers. The Principal Sales System Engineer 5 drives transformative business outcomes by engineering and delivering advanced, integrated Wireline, Wireless, and IT solutions that address the most complex and mission-critical challenges. This position shapes and executes high-impact sales strategies through expert-level pre-sales technical consultation, executive engagement, and innovative solution design; ensuring seamless implementation, continuous optimization, and sustained customer success across the entire solution lifecycle.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor during joint sales calls, effectively communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences with clarity and confidence to C-level executives.
  • Lead collaborative solution development activities with customers and sales teams to understand business challenges and craft solutions that leverage AT&T's product portfolio.
  • Design and deliver sophisticated sales presentations, live demonstrations, and proof-of-concept initiatives, showcasing deep product knowledge and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Continuously monitor and interpret global industry trends, disruptive technologies, and evolving federal security requirements related to data and communication services to ensure compliance and competitive advantage.
  • Provide expert consultation on system architecture, software applications, and integration strategies to ensure solutions meet customer specifications and security mandates.
  • Analyze customer practices, procedures, and data to resolve technical challenges and recommend innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and security posture.
  • Act as a subject matter expert with seasoned knowledge of functional and process areas, mentoring peers and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Exhibit exceptional agility and leadership in dynamic environments: including on-site customer locations, remote network operations centers, executive briefings, and virtual collaborations; adapting rapidly to emerging priorities and complex technical landscapes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical sales or engineering, solution architecture, or related roles within telecommunications, with a track record of success in high-impact, strategic customer engagements.
  • Exceptional executive communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with demonstrated success influencing, advising, and building consensus among C-level leaders, business stakeholders, and highly technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of Dept of War and Federal security standards and compliance requirements affecting data and communication services.
  • Proven ability to stay current with industry developments and leverage this knowledge to inform customer solutions and sales strategies.
  • Highly self-driven, analytical, and consultative leader with a demonstrated ability to navigate and resolve complex, ambiguous technical challenges-delivering visionary recommendations that drive business transformation and operational excellence.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Possession of relevant industry technical certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP, CompTIA Network+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) demonstrating validated expertise.
  • Strong familiarity with SD-WAN architectures, including design, deployment, and management of software-defined wide area networks.
  • Proven experience in developing Unified Communications (UC) solutions and transitioning customers from premises-based telephony to cloud-hosted service architectures.
  • Success developing compelling, competitive offer designs that have successfully secured strategic deals and driven business growth.
  • Experience integrating advanced network solutions such as 5G wireless, Low Earth Orbit Satellites (LEOS), and Ethernet to enable robust connectivity in challenging and diverse environments.
