Summary of Position: The Division of Nursing in the School of Integrated Health at Indiana Wesleyan University is seeking applications for adjunct faculty in the Division of Graduate Studies in Nursing, Master of Science in Nurse Educator and/or Health Systems Leadership specializations who will be responsible for teaching online courses to adult students. These courses follow a curriculum designed by the graduate nursing faculty and use a facilitator model of instruction. Teaching opportunities will be offered as they become available.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • 10% - Have an earned Doctoral Degree in Nursing - (Essential)
  • 10% - Maintain an active, unencumbered nursing license in the state from which the faculty member teaches and in the state of any on-ground instruction. A compact license is encouraged - (Essential)
  • 10% - Demonstrate a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ to students related to life and learning. Incorporating Biblical principles and prayer into teaching content, demonstrating content expertise within the subject area - (Essential)
  • 20% - Facilitate engaging individual and group instructional activities. Motivating students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process and assist them in achieving course objectives and learning outcomes - (Essential)
  • 10% - Communicate with all IWU constituents in a professional and academic manner. Capitalizing on teaching moments and other communication opportunities through the use of weekly announcements and emails - (Essential)
  • 20% - Apply sufficient, consistent rigor in grading student assignments, giving substantive feedback and critical evaluation within one week of the assignment due date. Responding to student questions and concerns within 24 - 48 hours or less - (Essential)
  • 10% - Utilize an on-line learning management system for grading and access to instructional materials; have experience in the onsite and online classroom as either an instructor or learner - (Essential)
  • 10% - Maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies. Engage in the evaluation of the course and of your own teaching performance. Participate in the course Continuous Quality Improvement as well as fulfilling two faculty development sessions per year - (Essential)
