Job description

Job Title: Vice President, Commercial Location: Remote - US Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: Competitive base salary & commission structure

Overview Joulé is partnering with an innovative, high-growth technology company operating at the intersection of AI and scientific research to identify a Vice President of Commercial to lead U.S. market expansion. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for building and executing the go-to-market strategy, securing initial enterprise customers, and standing up the U.S. commercial organization. This engagement will begin as a contract-to-hire opportunity, with an initial mandate to develop a comprehensive GTM strategy followed by execution.

Responsibilities • Develop and execute U.S. GTM strategy across key verticals: biotech/life sciences, CROs, and enterprise R&D organizations • Define ideal customer profiles (ICP), buyer personas, and account targeting strategy • Establish pricing, packaging, and positioning for the U.S. market • Personally lead and close initial enterprise deals within the first 90–120 days • Build and manage early-stage pipeline • Identify and develop strategic partnerships and channel opportunities • Design and hire the initial commercial team, including Enterprise AEs and supporting roles • Act as a player-coach, mentoring early hires while remaining hands-on in sales execution • Establish sales processes, KPIs, and reporting infrastructure • Partner with product and technical teams to align customer needs with product capabilities • Translate market feedback into actionable GTM and product insights

Requirements • 10–15+ years of experience in B2B SaaS or technology sales • Proven experience building or scaling a commercial function in the U.S. • Strong track record of closing enterprise deals ($50K–$250K+ ACV or higher) • Experience selling into life sciences (biotech/pharma), CROs, research/academia, or enterprise R&D environments • Ability to operate strategically and tactically in an early-stage environment

Preferred • Experience with AI/ML, data platforms, or research technologies • Scientific or technical background (PhD, MS, or equivalent domain expertise) • Experience in startup or high-growth environments • Exposure to evidence synthesis, clinical, or research workflows

Engagement Structure • Initial contract-to-hire engagement (3–6 months) • Compensation may include: monthly base or draw, performance-based incentives tied to revenue or logo acquisition, and the opportunity to convert to a full-time leadership role

Success Metrics (First 6 Months) • Delivery of a U.S. GTM strategy • Early enterprise customer acquisition • Development of a repeatable sales motion • Hiring and onboarding of initial commercial team
