Remote Modeling involves showcasing products or brands through photos and videos, often requiring a portfolio and industry-specific credentials. Remote Data Analysis focuses on interpreting data sets to inform business decisions, requiring analytical skills and technical expertise. While both roles can be performed remotely, their industries, credentials, and daily tasks differ significantly.

What is remote modeling?

Remote modeling refers to the process of working as a model without being physically present at a studio or location. Instead, models participate in photoshoots, video sessions, or live streaming from their own home or another remote environment, often using high-quality cameras and internet connections. This approach allows models to collaborate with photographers, brands, and agencies worldwide, offering flexibility and expanding job opportunities. Remote modeling became especially popular during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to be a viable option for many in the industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Model, you need a strong portfolio, camera presence, and understanding of posing and styling, typically supported by experience or agency representation. Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms, high-quality cameras, lighting setups, and photo editing software is often required. Confidence, adaptability, self-motivation, and effective communication help build rapport with clients and deliver professional results independently. These skills ensure that remote models can consistently produce high-quality work, meet client expectations, and succeed in a competitive, digital-first industry.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote modeling roles, and how can they be addressed?

Remote modeling professionals often encounter challenges such as maintaining clear communication with clients or creative teams, managing time effectively without in-person supervision, and ensuring high-quality work despite limited access to traditional studios. To address these issues, it’s important to establish regular check-ins, use reliable video conferencing and collaboration tools, and create a dedicated workspace at home. Staying organized and proactive in seeking feedback can also help remote models stay aligned with expectations and maintain professional standards.

Job description

Within SSOE’s Tool Install division, we specialize in high-tech Tool Installation design, offering top-tier design and engineering services to a diverse array of clients and markets. Our team is composed of highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals who excel across various disciplines. We pride ourselves on our cross-disciplinary approach, which allows us to understand and address our clients' needs more comprehensively than traditional, siloed methods. What sets us apart is our ability to seamlessly conceptualize, plan, and detail every aspect of design. Our in-house experts collaborate closely, optimizing and enhancing our work through multi-discipline strategy sessions. By leveraging cutting-edge techniques and state-of-the-art software, we deliver industry-leading technology and innovative solutions from day one.

We are looking to hire a Revit Modeler, with a background in either mechanical or electrical systems, where your expertise will directly shape how projects are designed, coordinated, and delivered. You will create detailed Revit models, collaborating daily with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure models are accurate, coordinated, and construction ready. You will be responsible for model quality from concept through closeout. When BIM workload allows, you will also contribute as a hands-on mechanical or electrical designer, applying your discipline expertise to support the broader project team.

This role is based on our client’s N. Phoenix, AZ facility, where you will work alongside our integrated engineering team onsite each day, and collaborate in real-time on projects that benefit from hands-on coordination. Remote or hybrid work arrangements for this role are not available.

At SSOE, we don’t just talk about the future, we build it. As a leader in industry AI adoption, we empower our team to work smarter by providing responsible access to the industry leading AI Large Language Models, vibe-coding platforms, and securely integrating advanced tools into every role. From day one, you’ll receive the training and support needed to leverage AI as a core tool for enhancing productivity, sparking creativity, and streamlining complex workflows.

BIM Development & Model Management

  • Develop and maintain high-quality Revit models across all project phases, ensuring models meet SSOE standards within your discipline (mechanical or electrical).
  • Drive continuous improvement of Revit families, templates, and content libraries to improve modeling efficiency and consistency firm wide.
  • Lead BIM kick-off sessions and coordinate model setup with project teams to ensure seamless data handoffs from design through construction.

Coordination & Issue Resolution

  • Lead multi-discipline coordination meetings using Navisworks, identifying and resolving issues, and ultimately reducing RFIs on coordinated projects.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams to produce fully coordinated federated models, minimizing field conflicts and change orders.
  • Produce coordination reports and issue logs, tracking resolution progress and communicating status to project managers and engineers of record.

Quality Assurance & Technical Validation

  • Conduct QA/QC reviews prior to record submissions, verifying model completeness and annotation accuracy against project requirements.
  • Ensure BIM standards and best practices across the project team, providing real-time coaching to junior modelers and designers to elevate model quality.
  • Validate that Revit models align with engineering calculations, specifications, and applicable codes, flagging discrepancies for engineer review.

Discipline Design Support (Mechanical or Electrical)

  • When BIM modeling demand decreases, transition into an active design support role within your discipline — assisting with equipment layouts, system routing, load calculations, drawing production, or other discipline-specific design tasks.
  • Apply your mechanical or electrical engineering knowledge to support engineers of record and project teams in meeting project deliverable schedules.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource bridging BIM accuracy and discipline-specific design intent.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional Revit MEP modeling experience, with a demonstrated focus in either mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Revit, including family creation, work-sharing, and linked model management.
  • Proficiency in Navisworks for clash detection and coordination workflows.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical or electrical engineering fundamentals applicable to your discipline of focus.
  • Practical experience performing mechanical or electrical design work — such as equipment selection, system layout, load calculations, or drawing production — in addition to modeling.
  • Experience preparing construction documents, coordinating with contractors, and supporting RFI resolution during the construction phase.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to engineers, clients, and field teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Revit Professional certification (current).
  • Familiarity with BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud for project management, document control, and model collaboration.
  • Field walk or site evaluation experience within your discipline (a strong differentiator for construction administration coordination).
  • Knowledge of Dynamo or Python scripting for Revit workflow automation.
  • Experience working on large-scale industrial, healthcare, or data center projects..

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $25.00 – $40.00/hour ($52,000 – $83,200 annually) Compensation is commensurate with experience, certifications, and project complexity. SSOE reviews pay annually and offers merit-based increases tied to performance milestones.
  • Incentives: Leadership bonus program and ownership investment opportunities. We believe the people who build SSOE should share in its success.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance; employer-paid life insurance; and wellness program support.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Professional Growth: Dedicated professional development funding, PE licensure and certification exam support, conference attendance, and structured career advancement programs.
  • Time Off: Generous paid time off (PTO) policy plus paid holidays.
  • Work-Life Balance: SSOE actively supports flexible scheduling within project commitments and a culture that genuinely respects your time outside the office.
