Job Summary

This position is responsible for the management, design and commissioning of all electric traction remote operation capabilities, including SCADA systems, Remote Terminal Units, PLCs and power monitoring devices. 

Essential Functions

Manage a team of engineers to maintain all Electric Traction's Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems including all Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) & other remote devices.
Ensure the displays, database and conguration is updated on the SCADA system for all territories including Mid-Atlantic, New York and New England
Upgrade and perform commissioning on RTUs, PLCs and Relays
Co-ordinate with Digital Technology to ensure all ET devices are compliant with DT policies
Perform patching and testing on all SCADA Systems, RTUs, PLCs & Relays
Develop training scenarios on the Operator Training Simulator to assist the ET Operations team
Maintain up-to-date records of all settings les and congurations for all RTUs, PLCs & other eld devices Co-ordinate all eld-testing activities with Division
Provide incident reports and root-cause analysis of system events based on SCADA telemetry
Respond 24/7 to critical issues with SCADA systems and RTUs
Provide direction in a matrix organization
Collaborate with system and division project managers on project progress

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required OR equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 7 years of prior relevant experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in managing SCADA systems, through design, testing, commissioning, and operation
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the design, installation, and commissioning of RTUs and PLCs
Preferred Qualifications
  • 9 or more years of related experience
  • EIT or PE Certication
  • Extensive experience in SCADA systems, RTUs & PLCs
  • Extensive experience in Traction Power Systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated experience in managing SCADA systems, through design, testing, commissioning, and operation
Demonstrated experience in managing the design, installation, and commissioning of RTUs and PLCs Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Procient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, STAAD, and AutoCAD.
Must be computer literate and capable of writing computer programs or spreadsheet programs

The salary/hourly range is $124,600.00 - $161,352.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
