Remote Mma Writing information

What is remote MMA writing?

Remote MMA writing involves creating content about mixed martial arts (MMA) from a remote location, rather than in a traditional office or newsroom setting. Writers in this role may cover fight previews and recaps, fighter interviews, opinion pieces, and news updates for online publications, blogs, or sports websites. They often research recent events, follow trends in the sport, and may use video calls or online platforms to conduct interviews. This job typically requires strong writing skills, a passion for MMA, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote MMA writer?

To thrive as a Remote MMA Writer, you need excellent writing and research skills, a strong understanding of mixed martial arts, and often a background in journalism, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, and social media platforms is typically required. Attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to meet deadlines while collaborating remotely are standout soft skills for this role. These abilities ensure the creation of engaging, accurate, and timely MMA content that appeals to readers and meets editorial standards in a competitive digital landscape.

What are some common challenges faced by remote MMA writers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote MMA writers often face challenges such as staying up-to-date with fast-breaking news, building relationships with fighters and industry insiders from a distance, and managing deadlines across different time zones. To overcome these, it's helpful to utilize real-time news alerts, actively engage with the MMA community on social media, and maintain a structured daily routine. Regular communication with editors and other writers, along with leveraging digital collaboration tools, can also enhance workflow and ensure timely, high-quality coverage.

Job description

Pinterest's Global Business Organization partners with advertisers, agencies and the wider industry to grow Pinterest's business. This role owns how Pinterest shows up with key industry associations and on the industry's biggest stages, from the ANA, MMA and IAB to marquee moments like CES, Cannes Lions and POSSIBLE. You'll be the connective tissue between Pinterest's leaders and the external industry, shaping visibility, influence and reputation across the advertising and marketing landscape.

What you'll do:

  • Serve as Pinterest's day-to-day contact for key industry associations, leading memberships and commitments, delivering against contractual obligations and finding new ways to grow Pinterest's visibility and influence within these organizations.
  • Inform Pinterest's speakership strategy and lead execution across key US industry events, sourcing, securing and shaping speaking opportunities that match the right Pinterest voices to the right stages and ladder up to business priorities.
  • Prepare and support internal spokespeople and executives for speaking engagements, developing briefs, talking points and narratives in partnership with Comms to establish a consistent, compelling Pinterest story across every stage moment.
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of Pinterest's event presence, including sponsorships, panels, activations, logistics, budgets and timelines, often across multiple moments at once on a busy calendar.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across Sales, Marketing and Comms to prioritize the highest-impact opportunities and reconcile competing perspectives.
  • Track, measure and report on the value and impact of memberships, event investments and speaking engagements, and use those insights to recommend where to deepen, sustain or exit commitments.
  • Use AI to accelerate research, speaker briefing prep, event planning and reporting, while applying judgment and verification to establish correctness and quality.

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in integrated marketing, industry relations, communications or event marketing, with expertise in sourcing and shaping speaking opportunities at major industry events.
  • Experience preparing spokespeople and executives for stage moments, including developing briefs, talking points and narratives in partnership with communications teams.
  • Experience leading the end-to-end delivery of events and activations, including sponsorships, panels, logistics, budgets and timelines across multiple moments at once.
  • Experience building effective relationships with senior stakeholders and reconciling perspectives to prioritize the highest-impact work with limited guidance.
  • Expertise in written and verbal communication, with the ability to represent a company credibly to external organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI to accelerate research, briefing and reporting, with a clear approach to validating accuracy and quality.
  • Strong track record of critical evaluation and verification of AI-assisted work, with high integrity and ownership: you protect sensitive data, avoid over-reliance on AI and remain accountable for final decisions and deliverables.
  • Willingness to travel for key industry events and speaking engagements as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as marketing or communications, or equivalent experience.
