About Fathom Robotics
Fathom Robotics provides operations, maintenance, training, and applied engineering services for uncrewed maritime systems supporting U.S. Government and commercial defense programs. We have multiple active projects across government and commercial clients and are actively fielding systems in operational environments.
Role Overview:
Fathom Robotics is hiring a part-time ROV Operator to support scheduled field operations, testing, and customer demonstrations on our uncrewed maritime programs. You will bring baseline ROV piloting experience and build platform-specific proficiency on systems through hands-on training. You can be based anywhere; deployments are CONUS and OCONUS, with travel expenses covered, and event lengths ranging from one week to several months.
Location: Remote, anywhere in the United States
Work Type: Part-Time, day-rate / as-needed
Clearance: US person status required; must be able to pass a background check and be eligible for SECRET.
Responsibilities:
  • Pilot ROV platforms during field testing, demonstrations, and customer-facing events
  • Execute mission and dive profiles alongside the field team
  • Monitor vehicle telemetry and health during operations, flagging anomalies in real time
  • Coordinate launch, recovery, and topside support with the operations crew
  • Complete post-mission logs and brief reports on each operation

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Baseline hands-on ROV operations experience (commercial, military, research, or competition background)
  • Working understanding of navigation and vehicle orientation basics
  • Able to communicate clearly with a field team during live operations
  • Able to travel to CONUS and OCONUS event locations for deployments ranging from one week to several months; travel expenses covered
  • US person status required (defense program context)
  • Must be able to pass a background check and be eligible to obtain a SECRET clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commercial or military diving support experience
  • Prior work on AUV or USV platforms

Platform-specific training on ROV systems will be provided.
