Job description

Summary
You will serve as an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) in the Business Operations Branch; Airborne Electronic Attack Systems Division; Electromagnetic Spectrum Warfare Department of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. NT-05 is equivalent to GS-13/14.
This position is salary capped at GS-13 Step 10 (currently $138,370). See "Additional Information" section.

Duties
Help
  • You will oversee the information assurance program of an information system or network.
  • You will manage information security implications within the organization or a specific program, to include strategic, personnel, infrastructure, requirements, policy enforcement, emergency planning, security awareness, and other resources.
  • You will perform maintenance and reporting of IA Vulnerability actions, Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) patches, Security Content Application Protocol (SCAP) tools and Retina scans on applicable assets.
  • You will design, develop, and field IT system software solutions for specific applications and/or systems of software applications.
  • You will conduct system administration, maintenance, and sustainment of Windows/Linux Systems used for the development of weapon systems, mission planning, and control software.

  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 451, proficiency level Intermediate. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing Information Technology work installing, configuring, or updating operating systems or software for information systems or networks. Examples of specialized experience may include: managing standalone and networked systems, test stations, and test equipment, and video teleconference (VTC) systems and ensuring they operate properly; creating, managing, and deleting user accounts, groups, and permissions to control access to system resources and ensure security; implementing and maintaining security measures like firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems to protect systems from unauthorized access and threats; establishing and managing backup and recovery procedures to prevent data loss; diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and networking issues; responding to service outages and providing technical support to users; managing hardware components, including installation and replacement, and overseeing software updates and patching; creating and maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.

This is not a high-grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $138,370).
