Job description

Tecovas was founded with the simple goal of making the world's best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.

Tecovas is looking for an Assistant Merchant, Men's Apparel to support the Men's Apparel team throughout the product lifecycle, from early concept and assortment planning through launch and sales analysis. Reporting to the Senior Merchandise Manager of Men's Apparel, this role will partner closely with Design, Product Development, Planning, Marketing, Retail, and Supply Chain to help bring compelling, commercially relevant products to market

This role is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about product and eager to build or strengthen their foundation in apparel merchandising. The ideal candidate brings strong organization, attention to detail, analytical curiosity, and a collaborative mindset.

This role is required to be based in Austin, TX. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

What you'll do:

  • Support the Men's Apparel team throughout the seasonal product development and merchandising calendar.
  • Conduct market and competitive research, tracking trends, customer insights, pricing, and competitor activity.
  • Assist with weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales analysis, reporting on key performance metrics and identifying business opportunities.
  • Support the development and maintenance of assortment plans, line sheets, hindsight documents, and other seasonal merchandising tools.
  • Create and maintain accurate product information within PLM and other merchandising systems.
  • Participate in product reviews and fittings, documenting feedback and supporting the iterative development process.
  • Partner with Design, Product Development, Planning, Marketing, Retail, and Supply Chain to keep products and deliverables moving against key deadlines.
  • Track product samples and maintain an organized sample library.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Creative teams on photo samples, product details, and seasonal launch needs.
  • Support assortment presentations and prepare materials for internal and external meetings.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting, competitive analysis, and special projects as needed.

Experience we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 0-3 years of professional business experience.
  • Experience in retail, buying, merchandising, apparel, or product development is a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Comfort working with numbers, maintaining product data, and preparing presentations.
  • Interest in Men's Apparel, consumer trends, and the retail industry.
  • Some travel may be required.
