We are seeking a high-performing, entrepreneurial National Account Sales Manager to help aggressively expand our national retail footprint by opening and growing new strategic accounts.

You will work closely with senior analysts and business leaders to translate raw data into clear insights, support strategic initiatives, and help drive informed decision-making across the organization.

This is a true hunter role focused on developing new business opportunities, building executive-level retail relationships, and creating long-term growth partnerships with major brick-and-mortar retailers.

This is a remote position with approximately 25% of travel required. Travel includes visits to our Richmond headquarters for meetings, as well as statewide travel for client meetings and business development activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect, develop, and open new national retail accounts with a focus on long-term revenue growth
  • Build and maintain strong buyer, merchant, and sourcing-office relationships within assigned retail organizations
  • Drive strategic growth initiatives targeting $10MM+ account opportunities with expansion goals exceeding $20MM annually
  • Lead all aspects of account development including presentations, line reviews, negotiations, assortment planning, forecasting, and category expansion
  • Partner closely with internal product development, merchandising, sourcing, and operations teams to create custom retail assortments
  • Collaborate directly with overseas sourcing offices, factories, and retail sourcing teams to develop innovative and competitive product solutions
  • Identify market trends, whitespace opportunities, and retailer-specific strategies to accelerate growth
  • Travel regularly for customer meetings, retailer presentations, trade shows, sourcing collaboration, and company meetings in Virginia
  • 7+ years of successful national account sales experience with major brick-and-mortar retailers
  • Proven hunter mentality with demonstrated success opening and growing large retail accounts
  • Existing relationships with buyers, merchants, or sourcing teams within Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Target, Sam’s Club, Aldi, Barnes & Noble, or similar national retailers strongly preferred
  • Experience managing a minimum annual business volume of $10MM with the ability to scale accounts beyond $20MM+
  • Strong understanding of retail merchandising, category management, sourcing, pricing strategy, and product development
  • Experience working with overseas factories, global sourcing partners, and/or retailer overseas sourcing offices
  • Background within Home Décor, Garden, Outdoor Living, Seasonal, Gift, Housewares, or related consumer product categories preferred
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and highly results-driven
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale retail programs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
