What is remote medical transport?

Remote medical transport refers to the process of safely transferring patients who require medical attention from one location to another, often between distant or rural areas and specialized healthcare facilities. This service can involve various modes of transportation, such as ambulances, helicopters, or fixed-wing aircraft, and is typically coordinated by trained medical professionals. Remote medical transport is essential for providing timely care to patients who are in critical condition or need specialized treatment not available locally. It may also include telemedicine support to monitor and assist patients during transit. The goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of patients throughout the journey.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote medical transport professional?

To thrive as a Remote Medical Transport professional, you need strong knowledge of emergency medical procedures, patient assessment, and transportation protocols, often supported by EMT or paramedic certification. Familiarity with communication devices, GPS navigation systems, and electronic medical record (EMR) platforms is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills help you manage high-pressure situations and communicate with patients and medical teams. These skills ensure safe, efficient transport and continuity of care in challenging and often unpredictable environments.

What are some key challenges faced by professionals in remote medical transport, and how can they be navigated?

Professionals in remote medical transport often face challenges such as unpredictable weather conditions, limited access to immediate medical resources, and the need for quick critical decision-making in isolated environments. Adapting to these situations requires strong communication skills, thorough preparation, and continuous training in emergency protocols. Collaboration with remote healthcare teams and local authorities is essential for ensuring patient safety and successful transport outcomes.

Job description

About CCBS

CCBS is a clinician-owned ABA agency. We exist to drive meaningful client outcomes by investing heavily in the people who deliver care. Our approach is modern, naturalistic, person-centered, and neurodiversity-affirming and our clinical standards are non-negotiable. We are not a staffing agency with a clinical veneer. We are clinicians who built a company.

The Role

You will shape the next generation of our field. That means intentional supervision, rigorous BST, and genuine investment in the growth of our practitioners, not checkbox compliance. This is a hybrid position (~75% remote/telehealth); local candidates only.

You
  • Active BCBA certification
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Passionate about mentoring the upcoming BCBAs and providing high-quality, consistent and structured supervision
  • Fluent in BST and can demonstrate it, not just describe it
  • Pursue current evidence-based practice independently
  • Adapt your teaching to the learner in front of you
  • Hold yourself accountable and extend that standard to your supervisees
  • Communicate directly and professionally with families, with staff, and with leadership
  • Stay in this field on purpose; you have thought about burnout and you have a plan
  • Reliable transportation, valid CA driver's license and vehicle insurance
  • Passes background check, TB test within 3 weeks of hire, current immunizations
What We Offer
  • $80,000$90,000 salary
  • Medical, Dental, Vision
  • 401k
  • Electronic stipend
  • $450/year CEU stipend for conferences or additional training
  • A company built by clinicians
  • Genuine promotion-from-within culture; we look internally before we post
  • A team that holds a high bar and supports each other in meeting it
Who Thrives Here

We are direct about what we expect and what you'll get. If you're looking for a place to coast, this isn't it. If you're looking for a place where your clinical judgment is respected, your growth is resourced, and the people around you take this work seriously, apply.
