What is remote medical device sales?

A Remote Medical Device Sales job involves selling medical devices to healthcare providers, hospitals, and clinics while working from a remote location. Sales representatives educate clients on products, demonstrate their benefits, and manage relationships to drive sales. This role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of medical devices, and the ability to meet sales targets. While the job is remote, travel may be necessary for client meetings, product demonstrations, or industry events. The position often includes a mix of phone, video, and in-person interactions to build relationships and close deals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote medical device sales?

To thrive as a Remote Medical Device Sales professional, you need a solid understanding of medical devices, proven sales experience, and a bachelor's degree—often in life sciences or business. Familiarity with CRM software, virtual meeting platforms, and industry regulatory standards such as HIPAA is commonly expected. Strong communication, relationship-building skills, and self-motivation are crucial for excelling in a remote and highly interactive role. These competencies enable remote sales professionals to effectively engage clients, build trust, and achieve sales targets in a competitive healthcare market.

What are the typical challenges faced in remote medical device sales and how can they be addressed?

In a remote medical device sales position, one of the main challenges is building and maintaining strong client relationships without frequent face-to-face interactions. Sales professionals often need to leverage digital communication tools and present complex product information in a clear, compelling way during virtual meetings. Time management and self-discipline are also key, as you will be responsible for organizing your schedule, prioritizing leads, and meeting targets with less direct supervision. Staying proactive in communication, continually learning about new products, and regularly engaging with your team can help you overcome these challenges and thrive in your role.

How hard is it to get a job in remote medical device sales?

Securing a remote medical device sales position typically requires relevant sales experience, knowledge of medical products, and strong communication skills. Employers often look for candidates with healthcare industry familiarity, sales certifications, and the ability to work independently, making the process competitive but achievable with proper qualifications.

Job description

Launch your medical device sales career with a company that's investing in your growth.

We're partnering with an innovative, pre-IPO medical device company that's expanding its commercial team and looking for driven B2B sales professionals ready to break into medical device sales. This is an opportunity to join an organization early, receive hands-on training, and build a long-term career with a company experiencing significant growth.

The company is already gaining traction within the VA healthcare system, partnering with Podiatry and Physical Therapy providers to bring an innovative home-use medical device to patients. As an Associate Territory Manager, you'll work alongside an experienced Territory Manager, helping grow an expansion territory while developing the clinical knowledge and sales skills needed to manage your own territory.

Geography: Territory includes all of Southwest Texas and Southern New Mexico. This territory has an established customer base but is primarily focused on expansion, offering significant opportunity to develop new relationships, grow market share, and drive business across the region.

Compensation

Base $70k/year

Up to $42K yearly commissions (Estimated earnings of $100-110K)

*This is a field-based role requiring at least 50% travel and is designed as a clear path to promotion. Associates who demonstrate strong sales performance and account management can expect to advance into their own Territory Manager role within approximately 12 months, where total compensation has the potential to exceed $200K+ through base salary and uncapped commissions.

Benefits

  • 4 weeks of PTO plus 8 company holidays
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Full reimbursement for business travel, including mileage at the federal rate

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1–3 years of successful outside B2B sales experience
  • Ability to travel 50–75% throughout the territory by car and air.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred

  • Medical device sales experience.
