Ownerโ€™s Representative / Construction Manager

Commercial Projects | Dayton, OH Region (Remote-Based)

Our client is a well-established Architecture and Design firm with multiple offices across the Midwest. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Ownerโ€™s Representative / Construction Manager to support commercial construction projects in the Dayton, Ohio region.

This role is remote-based, ideally located in the Indianapolis area, with anticipated travel to project sites within a 60-mile radius approximately once per week.


Position Overview

The Ownerโ€™s Representative / Construction Manager will lead construction phase services and serve as the primary point of contact between Owners, Contractors, and project stakeholders. This role carries full responsibility for the quality, timeliness, and administration of construction-related activities throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Owners, Contractors, Architects, and Consultants during construction
  • Conduct on-site visits to observe work in progress and verify compliance with contract documents
  • Lead construction progress meetings and prepare meeting minutes
  • Review and respond to Contractor RFIs and submittals
  • Review and process contractor applications for payment
  • Prepare contract modifications and review cost proposals
  • Perform cost analysis and support estimating efforts
  • Conduct substantial completion inspections and track closeout activities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Owners, contractors, designers, vendors, and public officials

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of construction administration and management experience on large commercial projects
  • Background with architecture, engineering, or construction firms, supporting public sector clients
  • Strong working knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes
  • Proven experience with construction materials, methods, and industry best practices
  • Practical experience producing and interpreting design and construction documents
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost analysis, estimating, and change management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Procore
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at problem-solving in fast-paced environments
  • Confident working both in an office environment and on active construction sites
