Position Summary:
As an NDT Technician, you will work with a safety-first team to set up and organize basic customer job site requirements, calibrate equipment, to conduct tests, and to interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with procedures. conducting or directing critical inspections and providing accurate and concise interpretation of results on gas, steam turbines, and generators utilizing remote inspection systems. These inspections are carried out at fossil and nuclear power stations worldwide.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Performs nondestructive testing and inspections in accordance with written procedures, national codes, or customer specifications while working at all types of Power Generation and Petrochemical sites.
  • Communicates updated procedures and detailed findings in support of inspection techniques within all levels of crew and clients when applicable.
  • Dependable and prompt in relation to inspection report creation, timecard submittals, expense reconciliations, training requirements, and other business-related tasks as assigned.
  • Directs the work of Trainee/Assistants and Junior Technicians and reports project updates to supervisor when needed.
  • Inspect and interpret readings as required in real time, to determine areas of interest.
  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications
  • Set-up and calibrate all equipment used, interpret, evaluate, and document results through formal reports
  • Provides current updated procedures to support inspection techniques.
  • Remains abreast of new technologies and test procedures within the assigned organization and continually expands inspection qualifications.
  • Follows and enforces the Company-required safe work practices and procedures at all times.
  • Actively participates in JSA and uses all necessary steps to complete tasks safely and ensures the safety of others working in the area.
  • Communicates with all levels of management and crew to effectively present any needs and changes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Certifications in at least 2 of the following: UT, MT, PT, VT
  • Ability to adhere to a written method or procedure.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the system and software of specialized inspection tools and software being deployed across the industry.
  • Knowledge of design, construction, and maintenance of steam or combustion turbines/generators used in power generation applications.
  • Shall be capable of being qualified to and acting in the capacity of a Quality Auditor to perform field audits on the various activities that impact the Integrity Services Division.
  • Confidence to STOP work immediately when a problem is identified.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use effective approaches for choosing a course of action and developing solutions.
  • Uses analytical and critical thinking skills to plan, identify and troubleshoot solutions to potential problems.
  • Ability to plan and manage resources, monitor and assess tasks, report and record findings and requirements.
  • Collaboration, customer service-oriented, adaptable, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution and team-oriented.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical documents.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products.

Management Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications):
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must hold a current Nondestructive Testing LII certification and be able to verify hours and/or education.
  • At least 2-5 years' experience performing NDT inspections, preferred.
  • Experience with Petrochemical or Power Generation inspections, preferred.
  • Must be able to test for Level II Certifications in at least 2 of the following methods.
    • MT
    • PT
    • VT
    • UT
  • Bonus to have, but not required:
    • RVI (Remote Visual Inspection) experience, desired.
    • FPI (Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection) experience, desired
    • ASNT certification, desired.
  • OSHA 10 Training - provided by the Company
  • Current Driver's license with acceptable driving record required.

Environmental/Working Conditions:
  • Production shifts range from 12 to 16 hours per day.
  • Work is performed within Industrial Power Plants. The site required specific training and PPE required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must have excellent depth perception, hearing, and manual dexterity to operate all machines safely.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
  • The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in extreme temperatures and weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Other Considerations/Requirements:
  • Must be able to travel up to 85% of the time, sometimes on short notice during peak and outage seasons.
  • Additional background screenings may be required for access to nuclear sites.
  • Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position requires overtime/weekend/off-hours and very frequent travelling.
