Remote Medical Case Management information

What is remote medical case management?

Remote medical case management is a process where healthcare professionals, such as nurses or case managers, coordinate and manage patients' care from a distance, often using phone calls, video conferencing, and electronic health records. This service helps patients navigate complex medical conditions, ensures they follow treatment plans, and connects them to necessary resources, all without needing in-person visits. Remote case managers collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to improve health outcomes and reduce hospital readmissions. This approach is especially valuable for patients with chronic illnesses, disabilities, or those living in rural or underserved areas.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote medical case management roles?

Professionals in remote medical case management often encounter challenges such as maintaining effective communication with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies without in-person interaction. Coordinating care plans, accessing up-to-date patient information, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations can also be more complex in a virtual environment. To succeed, case managers must be highly organized, technologically proficient, and proactive in building trust and rapport through digital channels. Regular training and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams are essential for overcoming these hurdles and delivering optimal patient outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote medical case manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Medical Case Manager, you need a background in nursing or social work, strong clinical assessment abilities, and relevant licensure such as RN or LCSW. Familiarity with case management software, telehealth platforms, and electronic health records is commonly required. Outstanding communication, organization, and problem-solving skills help you coordinate care and support patients remotely. These competencies ensure effective patient advocacy, streamlined care coordination, and optimal health outcomes in a virtual environment.

Company Overview
Price Benowitz LLP is a mid-sized law firm headquartered in Washington, DC, with offices throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, and South Carolina. Our practice areas include Family Law, Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Trusts & Estates, and more. Guided by our core values of Passion, Integrity, and Excellence, we are committed to delivering exceptional legal services while fostering a collaborative and supportive workplace.
Position Summary
Price Benowitz LLP is seeking an experienced Managing Family Law Paralegal to provide dedicated support to one Family Law attorney while also managing and providing leadership to the Family Law staff team.
This is a fully remote, hands-on leadership position for an accomplished family law professional who can serve as the attorney's right hand while providing day-to-day guidance, coordination, and oversight to the Family Law support staff.
We are looking for someone with strong, extensive family law experience, excellent judgment, and the ability to take ownership of both substantive casework and team operations. A strong and stable work history and prior management or leadership experience are highly desirable.
Candidates may be located anywhere in the United States but must be available to travel to Washington, DC approximately once per quarter for in-person meetings, training, and team collaboration.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, dedicated paralegal support to one Family Law attorney throughout all phases of family law matters.
  • Manage and coordinate the Family Law staff team, establishing priorities, delegating work, monitoring assignments, and ensuring deadlines and service expectations are met.
  • Serve as a resource and leader to Family Law staff, providing guidance, mentoring, support, and accountability while promoting effective collaboration across the team.
  • Support matters involving divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, contempt actions, domestic violence matters, and post-judgment proceedings.
  • Draft, review, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, financial affidavits, settlement agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare and electronically file pleadings and ensure compliance with applicable court rules, procedures, and deadlines.
  • Manage attorney calendars, court dates, discovery deadlines, mediation schedules, and case timelines.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing compassionate, professional communication and regular case updates.
  • Review, organize, and summarize financial records, tax returns, bank statements, business records, and other documents relevant to family law matters.
  • Coordinate discovery, document production, subpoenas, depositions, and expert witnesses.
  • Prepare hearing notebooks, trial binders, exhibits, witness files, and mediation materials.
  • Maintain organized electronic case files and ensure accurate and timely documentation.
  • Monitor case progress, proactively identify outstanding tasks, and ensure matters continue moving efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, opposing counsel, court personnel, mediators, experts, clients, and internal staff.
  • Accurately record billable time and assist with case management and administrative responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of substantive family law paralegal experience, preferably in a litigation-focused practice; significantly more experience is strongly preferred for this leadership role (No Contract or temporary work experience).
  • Extensive hands-on experience handling family law matters from inception through resolution.
  • Prior experience leading, managing, mentoring, supervising, or coordinating paralegals or legal support staff is highly desirable.
  • Strong and stable employment history highly preferred, demonstrating increasing responsibility, reliability, and professional growth.
  • Exceptional drafting, proofreading, organizational, and case management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of discovery procedures, court filings, and litigation support.
  • Ability to manage multiple active cases and competing priorities while simultaneously overseeing and supporting the work of others.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, accountability, and client service.
  • Ability to work independently and remain highly productive and responsive in a fully remote environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Washington, DC approximately once per quarter.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a seasoned Family Law Paralegal who can successfully balance two critical responsibilities: serving as the dedicated right hand to one Family Law attorney and providing effective leadership to the Family Law staff team.
The ideal candidate has substantial family law experience and does not simply wait for assignments. They anticipate what needs to be done, identify potential issues before they become problems, take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and follow through independently.
As a manager, they are approachable and collaborative while also comfortable setting expectations, delegating responsibilities, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and holding team members accountable.
Because this is a fully remote leadership role, we are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated stability, maturity, self-direction, and accountability throughout their careers.
This position is particularly well suited for an experienced family law professional who enjoys substantive casework but is also ready to take ownership of a team and help drive the effectiveness and organization of a growing Family Law practice.
Schedule & Location
  • Full-time, fully remote position
  • Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM Eastern Time
  • Candidates may be located anywhere within the United States.
  • Quarterly travel to Washington, DC is required.
  • We are seeking someone who can begin as soon as possible.
Additional Information
At Price Benowitz LLP, we offer a comprehensive healthcare benefits package in compliance with applicable requirements. Our benefits include employer-supported medical, dental, and vision insurance, mental health support, and disability and life insurance for income protection.
