Job description

Duties Description Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC) an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission-accredited hospital, is currently recruiting Dietitians to serve as a Dietitian 2 and provide professional dietetic and nutrition services to individuals with mental illness. As a Dietitian 2, you will be part of a multidisciplinary treatment team and will assist in the food and nutrition program operations, including: Developing, planning, and approving diets and menus. Monitoring patient food and fluid intake at meals Consulting with healthcare providers on individual diet therapy programs to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions.

Identifying and recommending activities to improve and maintain individuals' nutritional health. Providing nutritional care instructions and information to individuals Ensuring the integration of cultural, religious, and ethnic foods in the planning and delivery of balanced meals Documenting dietary changes or reactions in individuals' medical records. Providing remote weekend on-call coverage once per month on a rotating schedule Planning and conducting training for both staff and patients in sanitation, safety, nutrition therapy, meal service, shopping, etc.

This position will need to obtain and maintain ServSafe Manager certification. Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Dietitian 2 if they have: Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a RD. OR Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law

If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
