Job description

Medical Billing Specialist

Healthcare practices run better when claims are submitted accurately, payments are recorded correctly, and follow-up happens on time. We're looking for someone who takes pride in handling that work carefully and consistently.


What is the pay?

  • $50,000 - $62,000 per year, based on experience
  • Individual performance-based bonus up to 10% of salary
  • Company performance-based bonus up to 10% of salary

What will I be doing?

  • Preparing and submitting medical claims based on completed services, documentation, and client billing procedures
  • Reviewing patient information, insurance details, and claim data for accuracy and completeness prior to submission
  • Posting insurance payments, patient payments, adjustments, and related account activity accurately in client software systems
  • Monitoring claim status and following up on unpaid claims, denials, and missing information as directed
  • Updating patient accounts, claim status notes, and payment records to ensure information is accurate and current
  • Responding to routine billing questions and related requests
  • Preparing billing reports, account summaries, and other support materials as needed
  • Following established processes to deliver consistent, high-quality medical billing support

What are the requirements?

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written communication, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Strong organizational, task management, and follow-through skills
  • Comfortable working with insurance claims, billing records, and patient/insurance company account information
  • Able to identify missing information, errors, or discrepancies in claim submissions and billing records
  • Comfortable navigating multiple software systems simultaneously
  • Fast, reliable internet connection and a distraction-free work environment

What additional qualifications could I have?

  • 1+ year of experience in medical billing, insurance claims submission, or related healthcare back-office workflows
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, EHR / practice management systems, medical billing software, and payer portals
