Controls / Process Control Engineer

Remote in Minnesota or Wisconsin | Occasional Office Visits – St. Paul, MN
Direct Hire | $100k–$180k

An established engineering and industrial technology company is seeking a Controls / Process Control Engineer to design and implement controls solutions for complex industrial systems, working from initial engineering concepts through programming, commissioning, and field support.

This is a remote position for candidates living in Minnesota or Wisconsin, with occasional visits to the company's Vadnais Heights, MN office and approximately 10% travel throughout the United States. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who combines strong controls experience with mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of industrial instrumentation and fluid power systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and support industrial control systems.
  • Program and modify Allen-Bradley PLCs and control systems.
  • Develop and support process control applications for industrial equipment and facilities.
  • Work with industrial instrumentation, including sensors, transmitters, switches, and other field devices.
  • Apply knowledge of hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems to industrial automation and process control applications.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, controls, instrumentation, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Develop control strategies, I/O documentation, electrical schematics, and system specifications.
  • Participate in equipment startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field support.
  • Provide technical support for complex automation and process control issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years of engineering experience with an emphasis on controls and automation.
  • Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLC hardware and software.
  • Industrial process control experience.
  • Experience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex industrial problems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with customers and field personnel.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% throughout the United States.
  • Must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
