Subject Matter Expert 1 โ€“ OpenShift & Strategy CMC (DOE/LANL)

Location: Los Alamos, NM | Remote eligible

Compensation: $80-$90 per hour

Schedule: 1-Year Contract (Extension potential)

Openings: 2 positions available

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required

Clearance: Current or prior security clearance preferred | Ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance

WHY THIS ROLE

LANL is deploying a Strategy Customer Managed Cloud environment and needs two experienced contractors who can hit the ground running. This is a hands-on technical role requiring proven expertise with Red Hat OpenShift and direct experience installing and configuring Strategy CMC software. You will own deployment, configuration, sustainment, and knowledge transfer in a high-security, mission-critical federal environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain containerized environments using Red Hat OpenShift
  • Install, configure, and support Strategy Customer Managed Cloud (CMC) software
  • Integrate CMC components within OpenShift-based infrastructure
  • Perform system tuning, patching, upgrades, and ongoing operational support
  • Troubleshoot deployment, configuration, and runtime issues across the full stack
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and compliance
  • Mentor LANL staff on OpenShift operations including best practices for deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Develop and maintain clear technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials
  • Manage and direct daily tasks supporting design, construction, startup, and operations of complex high-technology systems
  • Render expert opinions on engineering and technical issues and provide recommendations to project teams
  • Interface with management personnel and customer representatives
  • Develop and enforce work standards, assign schedules, and review work quality

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Business Management
  • 7+ years of directly applicable experience in specialized technical field - acknowledged expert in specific area
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift (deployment, administration, and operations)
  • Proven experience installing and configuring Strategy Customer Managed Cloud (CMC) software
  • Strong understanding of containerization, Kubernetes concepts, and platform operations
  • Experience with Linux system administration
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Strong communication skills with ability to effectively mentor and transfer knowledge

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience using OpenShift and Strategy CMC together in a production environment
  • Prior work in DOE, federal, or other government-regulated environments
  • Familiarity with security, compliance, and configuration management requirements in regulated systems
  • Current or prior security clearance

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS - READ BEFORE APPLYING

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
  • Must have hands-on Red Hat OpenShift experience - advisory or theoretical knowledge only will not be considered
  • Must have direct Strategy CMC installation and configuration experience - no exceptions
  • 7+ years of directly applicable specialized technical experience required
