The Opportunity
Lavinia Group, a division of K12 Coalition, is seeking a Curriculum Specialist, Grade 3 Math, to support the development of high-quality instructional materials for a national K-5 audience. This role is ideal for an educator and curriculum writer with deep knowledge of Grade 3 mathematics instruction, strong experience implementing Common Core State Standards in practice, and the ability to design meaningful learning experiences from the ground up.
This role will contribute to the planning, development, revision, and refinement of curriculum materials that support rigorous, engaging, and equitable math instruction. Successful candidates bring both classroom expertise and curriculum development experience, including the ability to think critically about instructional outcomes, synthesize feedback, and independently problem-solve through revisions and content iteration.
What You'll Do
Content Development
  • Write, revise, and edit high-quality content for Lavinia Group's K-5 Math curriculum,

contributing to both the planning and execution of the division's strategic content development plan
  • Contribute to unit and lesson planning, including helping shape learning progressions, instructional approaches, and content outcomes across a sequence of materials
  • Ensure all materials meet the highest standards of instructional design, alignment to the

Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, and effective pedagogy
  • Incorporate research-based strategies, including Cognitively Guided Instruction, culturally responsive teaching practices, and project-based learning
  • Collaborate across teams to produce curriculum and supporting materials that reflect

Lavinia Group's core principles
  • Apply editorial best practices, including clear and precise writing, proofreading, and

implementation of feedback at both detailed and structural levels
  • Maintain consistency across curriculum materials and iterations through a rigorous,

feedback-informed revision process, using critical thinking and instructional judgment to independently apply and execute revisions aligned to intended outcomes.
Project Execution
  • Manage assigned curriculum scope and sequence deliverables on deadline
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams
  • Effectively manage workload and collaborate in a remote work environment
  • Embrace a cyclical development process that includes ideation, prototyping, drafting, review, and revision
  • Take ownership of feedback by synthesizing input, identifying actionable next steps, and applying revisions effectively across materials and instructional contexts

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Math, Education, Early Childhood, or a related content area
  • Minimum 3+ years of Grade 3 math teaching experience, aligned to the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS)
  • Experience developing math curriculum aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for a national audience, including creating lessons, units, and learning trajectories from scratch
  • Demonstrated experience applying grade-level math pedagogy and research-based instructional practices, including Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) and project-based learning (PBL), to develop and revise instructional materials aligned to intended learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically through curriculum development and revisions, synthesize feedback, and independently problem-solve instructional or content challenges
  • Strong writing, editing, communication, and collaboration skills within curriculum or education-focused environments

Preferred
  • 5+ years of Grade 3 teaching experience
  • Additional experience teaching Grade 2 mathematics
  • Experience supporting multilingual learners and diverse student populations
  • Experience working in iterative curriculum development and revision environments
  • Commitment to equity-driven educational work

Compensation Range
The compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 annually.
As part of our commitment to maintaining fair and consistent compensation practices, new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the band minimum and midpoint, based on their qualifications, location, internal alignment, and the budgeted amount for the role.
