Both roles require similar certifications and are vital in industries like construction and manufacturing, but their primary work environments and responsibilities differ.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Material Testing Laboratory Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Material Testing Laboratory Technician, you need a solid background in materials science, laboratory testing procedures, and relevant academic qualifications such as a degree in engineering or materials technology. Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), remote data acquisition tools, and various material testing instruments is typically required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure accurate test results, reliable remote collaboration, and compliance with industry standards.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in a remote material testing laboratory?

Professionals working in a remote material testing laboratory often encounter challenges related to effective communication and coordination, as they collaborate with team members who may be located in different regions. Ensuring the accuracy and consistency of test results can be more complex when handling samples and data remotely. Additionally, maintaining and calibrating specialized equipment from a distance may require extra planning and support. However, with strong digital collaboration tools and well-defined protocols, these challenges can be effectively managed.

What is a Remote Material Testing Laboratory?

A Remote Material Testing Laboratory is a facility that allows for the testing and analysis of materials—such as metals, plastics, or composites—using digital tools and remote technologies. Instead of requiring physical presence, clients and engineers can access equipment, monitor tests, and analyze results online from anywhere. These labs are especially useful for organizations with distributed teams or those without access to specialized testing equipment. Remote material testing helps save time and costs while maintaining data accuracy and security. It is commonly used in industries like construction, manufacturing, and aerospace to ensure material quality and compliance with standards.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Security Solutions Engineer (Sales Engineer) - Red Team & Continuous Offensive Testing based in Netherlands.

We are seeking a technically skilled Security Solutions Engineer who can bridge the gap between offensive cybersecurity expertise and enterprise sales. In this role, you will work alongside business development teams to design compelling technical strategies that demonstrate real-world security risks and the value of continuous offensive testing. You will engage with executive stakeholders, security leaders, and technical teams, translating complex attack scenarios into clear business outcomes. This position offers the opportunity to help shape a growing pre-sales function while collaborating with world-class security professionals in a fully remote, globally distributed environment. If you enjoy combining technical depth with customer engagement and strategic thinking, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.

Accountabilities:

As a Security Solutions Engineer, you will play a central role in the technical sales process, helping prospective customers understand security risks and designing tailored offensive security engagements. You will collaborate closely with sales, technical teams, and customers to build trust, develop winning proposals, and support long-term client success.

  • Lead technical discovery sessions to assess customer environments, security maturity, attack surfaces, and business risks.
  • Develop customized attack strategies and technical proposals that demonstrate how continuous offensive testing addresses customer challenges.
  • Translate complex cybersecurity concepts and attack paths into business-focused risk assessments for executive and board-level audiences.
  • Deliver engaging product demonstrations, technical presentations, and solution workshops tailored to customer needs.
  • Own the technical response for RFPs, security questionnaires, procurement reviews, and vendor assessments.
  • Partner with account management teams to support renewals, quarterly business reviews, and expansion opportunities.
  • Develop technical sales collateral, industry-specific content, and thought leadership materials.
  • Build and improve AI-powered workflows and tools that enhance sales effectiveness and proposal quality.
  • Strengthen competitive positioning by educating internal sales teams and differentiating offensive security solutions from traditional penetration testing services.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines deep offensive security expertise with excellent communication and customer-facing skills. You should be comfortable engaging with both highly technical professionals and executive decision-makers while thriving in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

  • Strong expertise in offensive cybersecurity, including Red Team operations, adversary simulation, penetration testing, and continuous offensive testing methodologies.
  • Previous experience in security pre-sales, sales engineering, technical consulting, or a hands-on offensive security role with customer interaction.
  • Ability to translate technical findings into business risk and communicate effectively with CISOs, executives, and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong proposal writing, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience developing technical content, attack scenarios, and customer-facing solution materials.
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools and automation to improve technical sales processes.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to build processes and operate independently in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for client engagements, industry conferences, and company events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work with the flexibility to work from anywhere.
  • Flexible working hours focused on outcomes rather than fixed schedules.
  • Competitive base salary with uncapped commission opportunities.
  • Unlimited paid time off to support work-life balance.
  • Unlimited training and professional development opportunities.
  • Quarterly company-wide meetups to collaborate and connect with global colleagues.
  • Opportunity to work alongside highly experienced offensive security professionals.
  • Collaborative, transparent culture with minimal bureaucracy and a strong focus on technical excellence.
