Job Description
Join the growing Warfare Systems Business Group at HII-Mission Technologies! We are seeking a Mid-Level AWS Solutions Architect (Engineer Systems Architect 3) to support the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) Case Development Modernization (CDM) effort. In this important role, you will contribute to the design and development of modern system architectures for the next-generation Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Case Lifecycle system, including modernization of the DSAMS Training Module and integration with the Case Launcher prototype. You will help translate FMS business requirements into scalable technical solutions that support Executive Order 14268 objectives for improved speed, transparency, and accountability.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Designs and develops system architectures and defines key capabilities and performance requirements.
  • Defines total systems design and technology maturity constraints in accordance with mission requirements.
  • Develops system element architecture and design and interface definitions.
  • Defines system implementation approach and operational concept.
  • Develops models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development.
  • Support the development of comprehensive system architectures for the modernized Case Development platform, ensuring alignment with FMS case development processes and Security Cooperation mission needs.
  • Collaborate with senior architects, FMS SMEs, Product Owners, and development teams to define system capabilities, interface specifications, and integration requirements between legacy DSAMS systems and new cloud-native components.
  • Contribute to the creation of architectural artifacts, models, data flows, and technical documentation that support real-time synchronization with legacy Oracle databases and eventual system decommissioning.
  • Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies to refine epics and user stories, ensuring architectural decisions enable rapid delivery and compliance with DoD standards.
  • Assist in evaluating emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, workflow automation, unified document and task management) and their application to FMS case development workflows
  • Support Human-Centered Design activities and help ensure solutions meet cybersecurity, accessibility (Section 508), Zero Trust, and IL5 GovCloud requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or required to advance mission goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years' experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in systems architecture, requirements analysis, and system design for complex enterprise applications.
  • Experience designing distributed cloud-native architectures, APIs, event-driven integrations, and enterprise application modernization.
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles, cloud architectures, and integration patterns.
  • Ability to develop and maintain architectural documentation and models.
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in collaborative team settings.
  • Self-motivated initiator with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance at the time of consideration
  • Remote-eligible position; must align with Eastern Time Zone core business hours

Engineer Systems Architect 3
5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
Engineer Systems Architect 4
9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements
  • Knowledge of Foreign Military Sales (FMS), DSAMS, or Security Cooperation case development processes.
  • Experience working with modern web technologies (e.g., React), backend frameworks (e.g., Kotlin/Quarkus), and containerized environments.
  • Familiarity with SAFe Agile and DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Exposure to DoD IL5 cloud environments, RMF, Zero Trust, and data migration strategies.
  • Experience supporting legacy-to-modern system transitions, particularly with Oracle databases.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or equivalent.

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods while working at a computer.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment to perform analytical tasks.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in virtual meetings, briefings, and secure collaboration environments.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret digital data for extended periods with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Occasional light lifting of documents or equipment up to 10 lbs, if needed for home-office setup.
  • Must maintain a home work environment that meets company and government security requirements (e.g., controlled space for handling sensitive or FOUO information, if applicable).
  • Must be able to work assigned East Coast core business hours to support program and customer requirements.
