What is a remote mapping designer?

A Remote Mapping Designer is a professional who creates, updates, and maintains digital maps and geospatial data from a remote location. They use specialized software to interpret data from various sources such as satellite imagery, GPS, and surveys to produce accurate maps for different industries like urban planning, logistics, or environmental monitoring. The role often involves collaborating with teams virtually and requires strong skills in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and spatial analysis. Remote Mapping Designers play a crucial role in helping organizations make data-driven decisions related to location and geography.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote mapping designer?

To thrive as a Remote Mapping Designer, you need a solid background in geographic information systems (GIS), cartography, and spatial data analysis, often supported by a degree in geography, geospatial sciences, or a related field. Familiarity with technical tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, and remote sensing software, as well as certifications like GISP, is typically required. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work independently are valuable soft skills for this role. These skills ensure accurate map creation, effective collaboration with distributed teams, and the ability to meet project requirements in a remote work environment.

How does a remote mapping designer typically collaborate with other team members across different locations?

Remote Mapping Designers often work closely with GIS analysts, project managers, and software developers using collaborative tools such as cloud-based mapping platforms, video conferencing, and shared project management systems. Regular virtual meetings and clear communication are essential to ensure alignment on project goals, map specifications, and deadlines. Since team members may be spread across multiple time zones, flexibility and proactive status updates are important for maintaining workflow and addressing challenges efficiently.

Job description

Location: Remote US

Synonymous Business Title (s): Senior Solutions Advisor

Travel: up to 40% travel required

Overview

We are seeking a Sr Manager Supply Chain Advisory (Sr. Solution Advisor) to join our Supply Chain Advisory team, helping customers design and adopt endtoend supply chain visibility, collaboration, and orchestration across multitier, multienterprise networks. In this role, you will lead discovery, conceive and deliver demonstrations, and shape controltower and commandcenter solutions that connect planning signals with networklevel visibility, partner collaboration, and downstream execution systems, including logistics, transportation, and warehouse platforms as integration points. You will help customers move beyond dashboards and fragmented views to coordinated, crossenterprise decisionmaking, faster disruption response, and measurable operational outcomes. This is a handson, customerfacing presales role for someone who enjoys turning complex, crossenterprise supply chain challenges into clear solution narratives, compelling demos, and practical paths to adoption. If you enjoy turning fragmented supply chain data into coordinated action-and proving it live in front of customers-this role is for you. This is an individual contributor role, not a people manager position.

This role focuses on presales support for multienterprise supply chain visibility and collaboration, helping manufacturing customers orchestrate decisions and execution across multitier partner networks. We are not seeking candidates with WMS or TMS backgrounds.

What you'll do

  • Act as a trusted solution advisor helping customers design and adopt end-to-end visibility and orchestration across planning, execution, logistics, and partner networks.
  • Lead customer discovery and end-to-end process mapping, connecting planning systems with TMS, WMS, and partner workflows to identify silos, decision gaps, and opportunities for orchestration.
  • Conceive, build, and deliver executive-ready demonstrations and Proofs of Concept that show how disruptions are detected, prioritized, and resolved through coordinated workflows rather than manual escalation.
  • Design and present control tower and command-center narratives that provide full lifecycle order-to-fulfillment visibility, from planning signals through transportation and warehouse execution.
  • Clearly articulate the value of network participation and digital collaboration, helping customers understand how shared data, workflows, and commitments improve resilience, agility, and performance.
  • Position AI-assisted insights such as anomaly detection, prioritization, and root-cause analysis in a practical, explainable way that accelerates decisions while maintaining governance and human accountability.
  • Partner closely with sales teams to qualify opportunities, shape solution scope, and align expectations around outcomes, time-to-value, and adoption.
  • Support continuity into delivery by documenting solution intent, workflow assumptions, and adoption considerations to ensure what is sold can be implemented and embraced.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7 to 8 years of customerfacing presales experience (Solutions Advisor / Solutions Consultant / Sales Engineer) supporting enterprise or multienterprise supply chain platforms.
  • Solid understanding of endtoend supply chain visibility and collaboration across multitier networks, including manufacturing, supplier, partner, and logistics ecosystems. Experience in logistics visibility is valued but not required.
  • Must have hands-on experience designing and delivering demonstrations (demos, pilots/POCs, discovery) for complex supply chain solutions, including visibility, control tower, or command-center use cases.
  • Proven ability to map interconnected, crossenterprise workflows that link planning signals, network visibility, partner collaboration, and downstream execution systems (e.g., TMS/WMS as integration points). This role focuses on networklevel visibility and orchestration, not handson WMS or TMS execution.
  • Ability to clearly explain how planning connects to execution systems to break silos, improve coordination, and drive measurable ROI.
  • Experience positioning control tower and orchestration concepts beyond dashboards, focused on decisions, workflows, and outcomes.
  • Practical understanding of AI-assisted analytics and how to position them responsibly in operational decision environments.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and storytelling skills, comfortable engaging operational leaders and executives.
  • Experience supporting or influencing change management and adoption, including user workflows, decision roles, and escalation paths.
