Job description

Position: Senior Engineer

Company: Dalcom Engineering

Location: Remote (CONUS Travel Required)

Salary: $150,000 - $225,000

Position Overview

Dalcom Engineering is seeking a Senior Engineer to provide technical leadership supporting engineering analysis, facility assessments, system design reviews, testing, and evaluation activities for mission-critical programs. In this role, you will lead technical efforts evaluating complex engineering systems, guide modernization assessments, and oversee engineering analyses supporting the U.S. defense industrial base and related infrastructure. The Senior Engineer will serve as a key technical authority responsible for developing engineering approaches, mentoring technical staff, and delivering engineering recommendations to support program decision-making.

This position is primarily remote but requires frequent travel to government installations and industrial production facilities throughout the Continental United States (CONUS), including ammunition manufacturing plants and modernization program locations. Travel is expected to range between 40% and 60% depending on project requirements. Limited international travel may occur depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a primary contributor in the application of engineering and scientific principles to meet technical project requirements.

Lead the application of engineering and scientific principles to develop solutions addressing complex technical and operational challenges.

Develop engineering concepts, technical approaches, and implementation strategies supporting facility modernization and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

Lead engineering diagnostics and technical assessments of industrial production systems and related infrastructure.

Design and oversee testing strategies including development of test plans, data collection methodologies, and performance evaluation approaches.

Evaluate engineering data, system performance metrics, and operational conditions to identify technical risks and recommend solutions.

Monitor project technical progress and ensure engineering activities remain aligned with project objectives and applicable standards.

Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering staff and multidisciplinary project teams.

Support engineering design reviews, modernization project evaluations, and technical working groups.

Author, review, and approve technical documentation including engineering studies, modernization assessments, system evaluations, and technical reports.

Qualifications / Desired Skills

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical/Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Environmental, or related discipline) or Computer Science with 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, or

Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 5+ years of experience may be considered equivalent.

5+ years experience in managing a professional staff

Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance

Experience leading engineering teams supporting complex technical programs or multi-disciplinary engineering efforts.

Experience applying probability, reliability, statistical analysis, sampling methods, and test and evaluation techniques.

Experience with engineering data collection, analysis, and performance assessment.

Familiarity with applicable engineering regulations, industry standards, and technical best practices.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.

Experience supporting industrial production systems, defense manufacturing environments, or infrastructure modernization initiatives is highly desirable.

Relevant Engineering Disciplines

Candidates may possess expertise in one or more engineering disciplines relevant to industrial production systems, defense manufacturing infrastructure, and facility modernization initiatives:

Chemical / Process Engineering

Knowledge of chemical processes, kinetics, thermodynamics, and chemical unit operations.

Mechanical Engineering

Experience modeling mechanical systems and applying thermodynamics and mechanical design principles.

Electrical / Systems / Computer Engineering

Knowledge of electrical codes, control systems, and process control algorithms.

Civil Engineering

Familiarity with building codes, structural codes, and geotechnical sampling techniques.

Facilities Engineering

Experience supporting the design, construction, or modernization of industrial or chemical process facilities for government or commercial environments.

Piping Engineering

Experience in piping system design, specification, fabrication, installation, and start-up of stationary equipment and piping systems.
Quality Control Engineering

Familiarity with quality management methodologies such as Six Sigma, TQM, ISO 9000, or related quality frameworks.
