What You'll Do

The Global NOSC Technician supports the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of satellite communications networks and equipment supporting SES Space & Defense customers. Working onsite in Stafford, VA within a 24/7/365 network operations environment, you will monitor MEO and GEO network performance, troubleshoot remote user and hub connectivity issues, and manage service activations, transitions, and restoration activities. You will work directly with customers to resolve satellite and network issues, provide timely updates during service interruptions, and escalate more complex technical problems to senior technicians when necessary. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize issues in a real-time operational environment where network availability and customer service are critical. The position is ideal for someone with experience in networking, IT, or satellite telecommunications who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting and supporting reliable communications services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers to troubleshoot and restore remote access problems, maintain reliable satellite communications, and resolve transmission issues involving a broad range of satellite communications and network services
  • Help end users access satellite communications services
  • Isolate issues and restore service to customer networks
  • Achieve a high rate of problem resolution and trouble closure on initial contact
  • Provide network support and escalate technical issues to the Senior Technician, Global NOC when access or communications issues cannot be resolved
  • Provide real-time status on MEO and GEO communications network traffic
  • Gather load and demand information, allowing SES Space & Defense to continuously optimize network performance and ensure quality of service and reliability for customers
  • Provide guidance and direction to Field Service Representatives (FSRs) troubleshooting complex satellite communications networks
  • Manage and monitor communications network performance, resolve remote user and hub problems, and execute service activations, transitions, and restoration activities
  • Perform system troubleshooting and retrieve logs through remote connections
  • Perform tasks required to successfully capture and facilitate reporting processes for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with defined standards
  • Keep customers informed during service interruptions by providing regular updates until issues are resolved and service is restored
  • Meet or exceed requirements specified in Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Monitor customer-transmitted satellite carriers to ensure they remain within established parameters
  • Schedule vendor access to remote locations for repair and maintenance as required
  • Maintain records of customer network maintenance and repairs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Who You Are

You are a technically curious and customer-focused professional who enjoys troubleshooting connectivity issues and restoring services in a fast-paced network operations environment. Your background in networking, IT, or satellite telecommunications gives you the foundation to monitor communications networks, identify problems, and work methodically toward resolution. You are comfortable interacting directly with customers, managing multiple priorities, and knowing when an issue requires escalation to more experienced technical resources. You understand that effective network operations require both technical troubleshooting and clear, timely communication throughout the service restoration process. Most importantly, you are dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working onsite in a 24/7/365 operational environment where maintaining reliable communications is critical to the customer.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of technical experience in networking, IT, satellite telecommunications, or a related field
  • Experience with satellite communications equipment, microwave systems, radio systems, antenna tracking systems, or fiber optic systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot satellite and data communications problems remotely, over the phone, or via email
  • Ability to work effectively in a 24/7/365 shift environment
  • Ability to prioritize issues, isolate problems, and restore communications to operational status
