Job description

About HousingWire

HousingWire is a data, media and intelligence company built for housing industry leaders. Our mission is to help housing industry professionals make better decisions, faster.
We equip decision-makers across real estate, mortgage, homebuilding and fintech through authoritative journalism, proprietary data and industry-leading events. Our culture values curiosity, ownership and meaningful impact.

The role

We're looking for a highly versatile, in-house designer to join our brand team and bring our visual identity to life across every touchpoint.

This is not a narrow, single-channel design role. You'll be working across paid campaigns, editorial environments, product marketing, events and more. You should be equally comfortable designing a high-performing paid social ad, a polished executive presentation, and a data-driven chart or report - often in the same week.

You'll partner closely with marketing, editorial, product and sales to create work that is not only visually strong, but strategically aligned and built to perform.

You're as comfortable designing a paid ad that converts as you are building a chart that explains what's actually happening in the market.

What you'll do

  • Design and execute across a wide range of formats, including:
    • Paid media (social, display, retargeting)
    • Organic social media graphics and campaigns
    • In-house promotions and onsite placements
    • White papers, reports and long-form content
    • Data visualizations, charts and infographics
    • Sales materials and print collateral
    • Event branding and environmental assets
    • Email design and marketing templates
    • Presentation design (internal and executive-facing)
    • Logo and brand asset development as needed
  • Translate complex ideas and data into clear, compelling visual stories
  • Translate brand strategy into consistent, high-quality creative across all channels
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand goals, audiences and use cases
  • Balance speed and quality in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ensure all work aligns with brand standards while evolving the system where needed
  • Prepare files for both digital and print production

What you bring

  • 3+ years of professional design experience (in-house or agency)
  • A strong portfolio showcasing range across digital, print, social and data-driven work (required for consideration)
  • Ability to design for performance (not just aesthetics), especially in paid and conversion-focused environments
  • Experience creating charts, infographics or data visualizations that communicate clearly and accurately
  • Proficiency in core design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva or equivalent)
  • Strong typography, layout and visual storytelling skills
  • Experience designing within established brand systems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the housing, real estate, mortgage or fintech industries
  • Experience working with data-driven or editorial brands
  • Basic understanding of marketing performance metrics and how design impacts them

How you work

  • You care about the work and the outcome. You're collaborative, open to feedback and focused on what performs.
  • You're proactive, resourceful and solutions-oriented
  • You're comfortable taking direction but confident contributing ideas
  • You can move quickly without sacrificing clarity or quality
  • You understand that great design supports business outcomes

Why this role matters

Design is a critical part of how we communicate our brand, deliver value to our audience and drive growth across the business. This role sits at the center of that work - helping translate strategy into execution across every channel.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Position level: Senior individual contributor.
  • Salary range: $60,000-$70,000 base, depending on experience.
  • Bonus: Eligible for performance-based bonus.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and ancillary coverage options.
  • Unlimited PTO plus Paid Parental Leave.
  • Hybrid/remote work options, depending on location and business needs.
