Remote loan underwriters review loan applications to ensure they are completed properly and comply with all regulations and investor procedures. Instead of working in the office, remote loan underwriters complete their job duties from home or another location outside of the office with internet connectivity. As a remote loan underwriter, you assess the risk of the applicant for your employer, which includes evaluating the customer's credit, reviewing their income, and determining whether the amount they are capable of repaying the amount of the requested loan. Remote loan underwriters usually specialize in a particular type of loan, such as a home, car, or business loans. As part of this job, you may also be asked to review new regulations and procedures or provide consultation to would-be borrowers.
