At Koch Finishing Systems, we design and deliver innovative surface finishing solutions used across industries — from automotive to aerospace. We're seeking a Field Control Technician (Start-up & Commissioning) to join our team and support the installation, commissioning, and service of automated finishing systems throughout the U.S. This is a field-based position with frequent travel; candidates can reside anywhere in the U.S. as long as they meet the airport-proximity requirement above.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct equipment commissioning, calibration, and functional testing
  • Troubleshoot and debug industrial control systems, including sensors, PLCs, HMIs, and related components
  • Respond to field service calls and resolve technical issues on-site
  • Assist with mechanical installation and start-up of new systems at customer sites
  • Perform preventive maintenance, system audits, and support upgrade projects
  • Interface directly with customers, providing technical guidance and training as needed
  • Work closely with project management and engineering to ensure successful installs
  • Document service activities and maintain detailed reports
  • Travel up to 75% (domestic, with occasional international opportunities)

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in field service, electrical/controls work, mechanical assembly, or equipment commissioning
  • Familiarity with industrial controls (PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relays, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Master Electrician license preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently in the field
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently
  • Must live within 1 hour of a major or regional airport
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and clean driving record
