Experienced Litigator Looking for More Flexibility and Autonomy?

A well-established Texas litigation defense firm is expanding its team and seeking a Litigation Associate to join its growing General Litigation and Insurance Defense practice.

With opportunities available in both Houston and San Antonio, the firm is also open to hybrid and remote arrangements for attorneys with prior litigation experience. Experienced attorneys located elsewhere may also be considered for fully remote opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful case responsibility, direct client exposure, strong mentorship when needed, and the flexibility to manage their work with greater autonomy.

What You'll Do

As a Litigation Associate, you'll manage an active caseload while working alongside experienced trial attorneys and a strong legal support team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage approximately 20 active litigation files
  • Handle cases through various stages of the litigation lifecycle
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, and other case-related documents
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategy recommendations
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances
  • Communicate directly with clients and insurance carriers regarding case status and strategy
  • Monitor deadlines and maintain compliance with the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Work collaboratively with partners, paralegals, and legal assistants to efficiently move cases toward resolution
What We're Looking For
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active Texas Bar license
  • Prior litigation experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in insurance defense, general civil litigation, or a related litigation practice is highly valued
  • Working knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to independently manage deadlines and competing priorities
  • Professional client communication skills
  • Sound judgment, initiative, and a collaborative approach
Early-Career Attorneys

Attorneys with newer Texas Bar licenses are still encouraged to apply. Because early-career attorneys benefit from more hands-on training and mentorship, in-office availability in Houston or San Antonio may be required during the initial training period.

Location & Work Flexibility

The firm recognizes that experienced litigators don't necessarily need to be in the office five days a week.

Houston or San Antonio: In-office opportunities are available, with the potential for hybrid or work-from-home arrangements following onboarding, particularly for attorneys who can demonstrate the ability to independently manage litigation matters.

Outside Houston/San Antonio: Experienced Texas-licensed attorneys may be considered for fully remote opportunities from the start, with onboarding and collaboration conducted primarily through Microsoft Teams.

Remote and hybrid arrangements are evaluated based on litigation experience, ability to work independently, and the level of training and supervision required.
