Job description

An established litigation practice is seeking a highly capable attorney licensed in Ohio to support a growing docket of sophisticated plaintiff-side civil litigation matters in federal courts, with a particular focus on matters pending in and around Columbus, Ohio.

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-stakes litigation involving significant legal and strategic issues. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of cases, develop litigation strategy, appear in court, and build a long-term practice based on performance and results. Advancement is merit-based, and responsibility is earned through demonstrated ability.

We are looking for a smart, resourceful, and persistent litigator who is comfortable in court, but also great at thinking strategically, and taking ownership of their work. The attorney selected for this role will join a highly experienced and collaborative litigation team that values initiative, excellence, and results. The firm has made substantial investments in technology, automation, artificial intelligence, and litigation support systems, allowing attorneys to focus their time on high-value legal work rather than administrative tasks. Attorneys benefit from modern case management systems, advanced legal technology tools, and operational support designed to maximize efficiency and litigation effectiveness.

  • Join a talented and collaborative team of experienced litigators.
  • Take meaningful responsibility and appear in court regularly.
  • Enjoy substantial autonomy and ownership over assigned matters.

  • Collaborate with clients, experts, consultants, and co-counsel on challenging matters.
  • Merit-based advancement with opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation.
  • Direct involvement in case strategy, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and performance.
  • No book of business required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Appear in federal court for status conferences, scheduling conferences, hearings, and other routine court appearances.
  • Draft, review, and argue motions and related briefing.
  • Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy.
  • Work directly with clients, experts, consultants, and co-counsel.
  • Manage discovery, including written discovery, document review, and depositions. Strong deposition skills are a plus.
  • Assist with case development from inception through trial.
  • Coordinate with support staff and litigation teams to advance cases efficiently.
  • Track deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and scheduling orders.

Qualifications

  • Licensed and in good standing in Ohio.
  • Located in or near Columbus, Ohio, or willing to regularly appear in courts located in the Columbus area. And willing to travel to hearings in other parts of the Country.
  • Experience litigating in federal court.
  • Familiarity with the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and local federal court procedures.
  • Experience handling complex civil litigation; plaintiff-side experience is preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Deposition and hearing experience; strong deposition skills are highly valued.
  • Trial preparation experience.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple active matters simultaneously.

Interested applicants should submit their contact information, resume, a brief description of relevant federal court experience, and compensation requirements for consideration. All inquiries will be kept strictly confidential.
