If you're excited about pushing boundaries in tech and delivering a game-changing experience for consumers and merchants alike, come join us at Sezzle and help create the future of shopping!
About Sezzle Bank (in formation):
Sezzle Bank is a planned de novo bank in formation, headquartered in Utah and wholly owned by Sezzle Inc. The Bank will serve as the regulated banking entity supporting Sezzle's financial product offerings and ancillary services, with a strategic focus on responsible lending, financial innovation, and exceptional customer experience. We are building a best-in-class team to stand up a safe, sound, and compliant institution from the ground up.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced banking Chief Financial Officer to oversee all financial operations of Sezzle Bank (in formation). The CFO will be responsible for financial reporting, liquidity management, capital planning, asset-liability management, accounting, budgeting, tax compliance, and the Bank's investment portfolio. This role reports to the Bank CEO and serves as a senior executive officer of the Bank.
What You'll Do:
  • Ensure the internal control environment is sound, sufficient, and well-documented to substantiate effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a system and control environment that meets audit standards and requirements.
  • Maintain books and records and develop operational policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory law, regulation, guidance, and expectations.
  • Communicate with regulators and address regulatory inquiries and examination activities.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and all Bank payments.
  • Prepare and review all regulatory financial reports including quarterly FDIC Call Reports.
  • Sign off on the quarterly ACL analysis and balance reported on the Call Report.
  • Serve as the Bank's Investment Officer; develop and oversee the Bank's investment policy for excess deposits and capital.
  • Oversee and develop policies related to the Bank's asset-liability management (ALM) function, including liquidity and funds management, interest rate risk, capital risk, and deposit gathering.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and analysis at management and Board committee meetings.

What We Look For:
  • 10-15+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in banking or financial services.
  • Minimum 5+ years in a senior financial leadership role (CFO, Controller, Treasury) at a regulated financial institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GAAP financial reporting, Call Report preparation, ALM, liquidity management, and capital planning.
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulatory requirements, internal controls, and accounting for financial instruments.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • Experience with CECL implementation, investment portfolio management, and FHLB relationships.
  • Familiarity with fintech-affiliated banking models and associated financial reporting complexities.

About You:
  • You have relentlessly high standards - many people may think your standards are unreasonably high. You are continually raising the bar and driving those around you to deliver great results. You make sure that defects do not get sent down the line and that problems are fixed so they stay fixed.
  • You're not bound by convention - your success-and much of the fun-lies in developing new ways to do things.
  • You need action - speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study. We value calculated risk-taking.
  • You earn trust - you listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully.
  • You have backbone; disagree, then commit - you can respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. You have conviction and are tenacious. You do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, you commit wholly.
  • You deliver results - you focus on the key inputs and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, you rise to the occasion and never settle.

Compensation:

Perks & Benefits:
  • Unlimited PTO, volunteer hours and sabbatical
  • Life, STD/LTD, medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Highly discounted LifeTime gym membership
  • 401k with match
  • Collaborative fun co-workers
