About Trilogy Innovations
At Trilogy Innovations, we are committed to driving meaningful change for our customers and communities through smart, innovative technology that solves real problems. As a growing systems and software engineering company, we partner across public and private sectors to modernize enterprise systems, strengthen security, and deliver high value solutions. We are scaling with purpose, investing in our people, processes, and platforms as we expand. We work hard, think creatively, and value every perspective as we push boundaries and build systems that matter.
Location: Approximately 90% remote, with up to five (5) onsite days per month at the BPA Ross Complex / Dittmer Control Center, Vancouver, WA.
Clearance Level: DOE Security Badge + NBIS eApp (existing federal clearance preferred)
Who you are
The Senior RHEL Engineer / Team Lead serves as the technical authority and on-program lead for an enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) replatforming effort supporting a federal customer. You design the target-state Linux and container platform architecture, set engineering standards, mentor team members, and are accountable for technical delivery across all program milestones.
The role combines hands-on senior engineering with team leadership, customer-facing technical communication, and oversight of automation, security, and compliance practices across the platform. You supervise the RHEL Systems Engineer(s), Ansible Automation Engineer, Red Hat Satellite Administrator, and Security Engineer (STIG/SCAP) on the program.
This position supports the BPA-26-RFP-5852 MCIT Replatforming RHEL program for the Bonneville Power Administration. Period of performance is June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027 (12 months, milestones M1-M6).
What you will do:
Technical Leadership and Architecture
  • Serve as the technical lead for a multi-engineer Red Hat platform team and own architecture decisions across RHEL, OpenShift, Ansible Automation Platform, Satellite, Identity Management, and virtualization layers.
  • Design and review the target-state platform, including hybrid (on-premises and cloud) deployments, in alignment with NIST 800-53, DISA STIG, and FedRAMP guidance.
  • Lead the build-out and ongoing operation of OpenShift and ROSA clusters, including Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) and Advanced Cluster Security (ACS).
Engineering Standards and Automation Oversight
  • Define standards for Ansible roles, collections, GitOps (ArgoCD) pipelines, and reusable automation content; oversee code quality and Molecule-based testing.
  • Provide engineering oversight for Identity Management (IdM/Keycloak), Satellite content lifecycle, and Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) workloads.
Team Leadership and Customer Engagement
  • Mentor and develop engineers; conduct technical interviews; provide guidance, feedback, and performance input.
  • Partner with the Project Manager and customer technical leads to align engineering work to milestone outcomes and to communicate risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for the most complex platform incidents; serve as escalation point for the engineering team.

How success is measured:
Success is defined by delivering a secure, scalable RHEL platform while leading the team to meet program milestones.
You will be successful if you:
  • Deliver target-state architecture aligned to program and compliance requirements
  • Lead technical execution across all milestones (M1-M6)
  • Ensure successful deployment and operation of OpenShift and Red Hat platforms
  • Establish strong engineering and automation standards
  • Mentor the team and drive high performance
  • Identify and mitigate risks while communicating effectively with stakeholders

What you bring
We require:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Linux / RHEL engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a technical lead, principal engineer, or architect capacity.
  • Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) - OR - Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) with 10+ years of qualifying experience (per BPA-26-RFP-5852 staffing requirements).
  • Deep, hands-on expertise across RHEL 7, 8, and 9, including kernel-level troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high-availability design.
  • Production experience designing and operating OpenShift Container Platform and ROSA, including ACM, ACS, OpenShift Data Foundation, and GitOps workflows.
  • Mastery of Ansible Automation Platform: roles, collections, execution environments, workflow design, and integration with source control and CI/CD.
  • Strong working knowledge of Red Hat Satellite (capsules, content views, lifecycle environments), Identity Management, and SELinux.
  • Experience leading distributed engineering teams and serving as the senior technical voice in customer-facing meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to architect for security and compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53, DISA STIG, FedRAMP).
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Security Badge and successfully adjudicate an NBIS eApp background investigation prior to start.

Nice to have
  • Red Hat Certified Architect in Infrastructure.
  • Red Hat Certified OpenShift Architect.
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist credentials in OpenShift, Ansible, Satellite, Containers, Virtualization, IdM, ACS, ACM, and OpenShift AI.
  • CompTIA Security+.
  • Existing DOE badge or active federal clearance (Public Trust, Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI).

Work environment: Remote-first role with primary work location at the BPA Ross Complex / Dittmer Control Center, Vancouver, WA. Approximately 90% remote, with up to five (5) onsite days per month (flexible).
