Job description

Overview:
Corporate Tools is seeking a DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in virtualization and on-prem infrastructure. This hybrid, full-time position blends modern DevOps practices with traditional Linux systems engineering. You'll be responsible for managing and scaling our on-prem environments remotely, automating infrastructure workflows, and maintaining reliable, secure systems using tools like Proxmox or other enterprise-grade hypervisors. You'll work closely with our development and operations teams to support infrastructure automation, CI/CD workflows, and resilient on-prem systems-enabling high-performance application development and delivery.
Plus, you'll be the hero who keeps everything secure, reliable, and running like a well-oiled machine. If you love tackling tough challenges and making a real impact, this role offers the perfect mix of tech and strategy! If you're that sweet spot of Linux meets DevOps than we want to speak with you!
Wage:
Up to $175,000/year
Benefits:
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental and vision for employees
  • Annual review with raise option
  • 22 days Paid Time Off accrued annually, and 4 holidays
    • After 3 years, PTO increases to 29 days. Employees transition to flexible time off after 5 years with the company-not accrued, not capped, take time off when you want
    • The 4 holidays are: New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Up to 6% company matching 401(k) with no vesting period
  • Quarterly allowance
    • Use to make your remote work set up more comfortable, for continuing education classes, a plant for your desk, coffee for your coworker, a massage for yourself... really, whatever
  • Open concept office with friendly coworkers
  • Creative environment where you can make a difference
  • No dumb benefits like free dog walking on the weekends that snobby hipster places have to make you feel cool, but mathematically won't cost the company much money because you won't use it
  • Trail Mix Bar oh yeah

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage on-premise infrastructure to support scalable and reliable applications.
  • Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments to ensure infrastructure growth meets business requirements.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to implement best practices for deployment and infrastructure management.
  • Coordinate with IT and Network teams to ensure proper infrastructure setup, connectivity, and integration with other systems.
  • Design and implement Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines for on-prem applications.
  • Ensure seamless integration between development, QA, and production environments.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the performance of on-prem systems and applications.
  • Research, evaluate, and integrate new technologies to enhance the functionality and performance of on-prem infrastructure.

Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Infrastructure, or Linux Systems Engineering roles.
  • Strong background in Linux systems administration and troubleshooting (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar).
  • Deep hands-on experience with Proxmox or another enterprise virtualization platform (e.g., VMware vSphere, KVM, Xen).
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
  • Comfortable working with container technologies such as Docker or Podman.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, Drone).
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Ruby).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and best practices in on-prem environments.
  • Familiarity with managing physical infrastructure remotely (e.g., IPMI, iDRAC, iLO).
  • Experience managing on-prem Kubernetes clusters (or hybrid deployments).
  • Familiar with automated OS provisioning tools (e.g., PXE boot, Kickstart, Cobbler).
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or similar).
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases from a systems perspective.
  • Knowledge of backup, high-availability, and disaster recovery for virtualized infrastructure.
  • Understanding of hardware lifecycle and virtual resource optimization in remote data center environments.
