What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Librarian, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Librarian, you need a solid background in library and information science, often demonstrated by an MLIS degree and experience with digital resource management. Familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS), online databases, and virtual reference tools is essential. Strong communication, self-motivation, and customer service skills are crucial for effectively assisting patrons and collaborating with colleagues in a virtual environment. These skills ensure that information needs are met efficiently and accurately, regardless of physical location.

What is a remote librarian?

A remote librarian is a professional who provides library services and support to users from a distance, typically through online platforms. Their duties may include helping patrons with research, managing digital resources, answering reference questions via chat or email, and offering virtual instruction on information literacy. Remote librarians often work from home or other offsite locations, utilizing technology to connect with library users. This role is increasingly important as more library services move online to accommodate remote access and digital learning.

Remote Librarians and Remote Archivists share similar credentials and often work in information management. While librarians focus on providing access to library resources and assisting users, archivists specialize in preserving and organizing historical records. Both roles can be performed remotely and are in demand across various institutions. Understanding these differences helps job seekers find the right position aligned with their skills and interests.

What Does a Remote Librarian Do?

Remote librarians manage online resources for a library. Instead of working in the office, remote librarians complete their job duties from home or another location with internet connectivity. Your specific responsibilities as a virtual librarian depend on the area in which you specialize. You can specialize in digital resource management, which involves obtaining electronic books and other resources and making them available to library patrons. A remote librarian can also organize a library catalog or manage a database of information and resources for research. University libraries hire remote archivists to obtain digital documents and resources and select those that have informational or research value for inclusion in an archive.

How does a Remote Librarian typically collaborate with patrons and colleagues despite working offsite?

Remote Librarians rely heavily on digital tools to support both patrons and team members. They often use video conferencing, live chat, email, and library management systems to answer reference questions, conduct research consultations, and participate in staff meetings. Effective communication skills and comfort with technology are essential, as remote librarians must proactively engage with users and colleagues, sometimes across different time zones. Collaboration is fostered through shared digital workspaces and regular virtual check-ins, ensuring that the library's services remain accessible and cohesive.

Job Summary
Foundation AI is seeking a Product Marketing Manager (PMM) to own the go-to-market strategy and execution for our AI-powered legal technology platform. This individual contributor role sits at the intersection of product, sales, and marketing - translating complex AI capabilities into compelling narratives that resonate with plaintiff attorneys and legal operations professionals.
The ideal candidate brings a sharp instinct for positioning, a track record in B2B SaaS or legal technology, and the ability to move fast across product launches, competitive intelligence, and sales enablement. You will work closely with executive leadership, product, sales, and the broader marketing team to ensure Foundation AI is clearly differentiated and compellingly communicated in the market. It will be a fast-paced role in a fast-growing company.
Key Responsibilities
Product Launches & Go-to-Market
  • Own end-to-end go-to-market planning for new product features and releases, including positioning, messaging, launch timelines, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Partner with product management to deeply understand the roadmap and translate technical capabilities into customer-facing value propositions.
  • Develop launch assets including press releases, one-pagers, landing page copy, email announcements, and social content.
  • Coordinate launch readiness across sales, customer success, and marketing to ensure consistent, timely delivery.

Competitive Intelligence & Market Positioning
  • Build and maintain competitive battlecards, win/loss analysis, and market landscape research focused on the legal technology and plaintiff attorney space.
  • Monitor competitor messaging, product updates, and market trends; synthesize findings into actionable insights for product and sales teams.
  • Define and own Foundation AI's positioning and messaging framework, ensuring
differentiation is clear and consistently applied across all channels.
  • Conduct customer and prospect interviews to inform messaging, identify pain points, and surface unmet needs.

Sales Enablement & Pipeline Support
  • Develop and maintain a library of sales collateral, including pitch decks, case studies, objection handling guides, demo scripts, and ROI tools.
  • Partner with sales and sales operations to identify gaps in the buyer journey and create targeted content to accelerate pipeline progression.
  • Train sales team members on messaging, product positioning, and competitive differentiation.
  • Ensure all sales materials reflect current product capabilities, partner integrations, and brand standards.

Campaign & Content Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Project Manager, marketing team and content partners to ensure product messaging is accurately represented across email, social, website, and event channels.
  • Contribute to integrated marketing campaigns tied to product milestones, industry events, and key sales initiatives.
  • Serve as a messaging subject matter expert for external agencies, writers, and design partners producing product-related content.

Qualifications
Required
  • 4+ years of experience in product marketing, with demonstrated ownership of launches, positioning, or competitive programs.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, professional services, or technology-driven products.
  • Strong writing and communication skills - ability to craft clear, compelling narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with product, sales, and marketing stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, remote environment with priorities.

Preferred
  • Experience in legal technology, AI, plaintiff attorney workflows, litigation finance, or legal operations.
  • Familiarity with the plaintiff attorney market, including personal injury, mass tort, or class action practice areas.
Experience supporting go-to-market in a startup or early-stage environment.
  • Background in working with sales-led or product-led growth motions in a B2B context.

Skills & Competencies
  • Product storytelling and message development
  • Competitive analysis and market research
  • Sales enablement content creation
  • Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder influence
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Analytical thinking and data-informed decision making
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
