Job description

Job#: 3034410
Job Description:
Software Development Engineer (SDE II)
Location: Nashville, TN (Onsite M-F, 9-5)
Duration: 6+ Month Contract
Employer: Apex Systems
Client: Supporting a Fortune 50 company
About the Opportunity
Apex Systems is partnering with a Fortune 50 organization to support a Global Risk Audit Management - Transportation team that is building AI-powered solutions and integrated platforms to enable proactive risk management across large-scale transportation and logistics operations.
This team develops highly available, distributed systems that operate across complex, international environments with evolving data models and multi-party business scenarios. AI is embedded across these applications, including the use of large language models (LLMs) to improve automation, insights, and decision-making within risk and compliance workflows.
This role is ideal for hands-on, execution-focused engineers who enjoy building, shipping, and iterating on features rather than spending extended time in design or planning phases.
This is a 6+ month contract opportunity with strong potential for extension.
What You'll Do
  • Build and deliver production-ready software features supporting risk and compliance initiatives
  • Work as a hands-on "doer," owning implementation and execution of defined requirements
  • Develop and enhance distributed systems used across global transportation domains
  • Contribute to applications leveraging AI and LLM-driven capabilities
  • Focus on feature delivery and continuous improvement with minimal upfront design overhead
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners while maintaining accountability for results
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, Java, and TypeScript
  • Experience building and supporting distributed or multi-tier systems
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design and software engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to work in execution-focused environments with evolving priorities
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting risk, compliance, controls, audit, or other regulated systems
  • Exposure to AI-enabled applications; experience with LLMs is a plus but not required
  • Comfort learning and applying new technologies quickly
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, and operations
  • Strong ownership mindset with a bias toward action and delivery
Why Join This Contract
  • Work on mission-critical systems supporting risk and compliance at global scale
  • Gain experience supporting a Fortune 50 organization through Apex Systems
  • Build highly visible technology used across international transportation operations
  • Opportunity for contract extension based on performance and project needs
