Position Summary
The Physical Security Engineer serves as a technical specialist responsible for the implementation, configuration, and operation of DataBank's physical security systems across corporate and data center environments. This role ensures that all access control, surveillance, and alarm systems are deployed, maintained, and monitored according to company standards and applicable compliance frameworks. The engineer collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to deliver reliable and compliant physical security technology. This position involves hands-on system administration, incident response, and project execution, contributing directly to the protection of DataBank's facilities, personnel, and customers.
Primary Responsibilities
• Administer and maintain enterprise physical security platforms, including Lenel, CCure, Exacq, BioConnect, and related systems.
• Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise physical security platforms-including Lenel, CCure, Exacq, BioConnect, and similar systems. Perform system upgrades, troubleshoot complex issues, and coordinate with internal teams and vendors to ensure operational reliability and compliance with security standards.
• Execute configuration, provisioning, and upgrades of access control, CCTV, and alarm infrastructure.
• Support day-to-day system monitoring, alarm review, and response coordination.
• Perform regular system health checks, preventative maintenance, and equipment testing.
• Participate in design and implementation of physical security systems for new facility builds and retrofit projects.
• Facilitate the management of access control credentials for employees, contractors, and visitors, and participate in defining and enforcing configuration and access control standards for all physical security platforms.
• Conduct site inspections, testing, and documentation to verify compliance with established standards.
• Assist in developing and maintaining physical security policies, procedures, and SOPs.
• Participate in compliance initiatives, audits, and remediation efforts under FedRAMP, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and NIST 800-53.
• Train junior engineers and administrators, establishing best practices and technical consistency.
• Maintain inventories of cameras, controllers, and related security hardware.
• Coordinate with IT and Networking teams to ensure proper integration and network segmentation of security systems.
• Participate in scheduled on-call rotation for alarms or system incidents under supervision.
• Conduct incident response activities as directed by the incident response commander.

• Stay current on emerging security technologies, threats, and best practices relevant to critical infrastructure.
• Partner with data center operations, project managers, and customers to coordinate security system maintenance and upgrades with minimal impact to facility uptime.
Required Skills and Competencies
• Solid understanding of physical security principles and technology operation.
• Working knowledge of enterprise-class access control and surveillance platforms (Lenel, CCure, Exacq, BioConnect, Genetec, etc.).
• Solid experience with structured cabling, IP networking, and system power requirements.
• Knowledge of security standards and compliance frameworks relevant to critical infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and as-built documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, comprehensive documentation skills, and consistent follow-through to ensure accuracy and quality in all tasks.
• Effective communication with internal teams, vendors, and external partners.
Experience and Qualifications
• 3-5 years of experience in physical security, system administration, or IT infrastructure support.
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining access control and CCTV systems required.
• Relevant certifications (manufacturer-specific, CompTIA Security+, PSP) considered an advantage.
• U.S. Citizenship required and must successfully pass a background/security investigation.
• Experience coordinating with contractors, service providers, and vendor relationships.
• Familiarity with project budgeting, lifecycle management, and change control.
