What is a remote leasing consultant?

A Remote Leasing Consultant is a professional who assists property owners and prospective tenants with leasing processes, typically for residential or commercial properties, from a remote location. They handle responsibilities such as answering inquiries, conducting virtual tours, processing applications, and assisting with lease agreements, all through digital communication tools. This role is ideal for those with strong communication and organizational skills who can work efficiently without being on-site. Remote Leasing Consultants play a crucial part in streamlining the leasing process and providing support to both property managers and tenants. Their work helps ensure properties are leased quickly and efficiently, even when in-person interactions are limited.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a remote leasing consultant?

To thrive as a Remote Leasing Consultant, you need strong sales abilities, knowledge of property management, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with property management software, virtual tour platforms, and CRM systems is often required. Exceptional communication, customer service, and time-management skills set top performers apart in this role. These competencies ensure effective virtual interactions, high occupancy rates, and satisfied clients in a competitive rental market.

How does a remote leasing consultant build rapport with prospective tenants without in-person interactions?

As a Remote Leasing Consultant, building rapport with prospective tenants relies heavily on strong communication skills and the effective use of digital tools. You’ll often conduct virtual tours, respond promptly to inquiries via email or phone, and provide detailed, clear information about properties. Utilizing video calls and personalized follow-ups helps establish trust and creates a positive leasing experience, even without face-to-face meetings. Being proactive and attentive to each applicant’s needs is key to forming lasting relationships and securing leases remotely.

Job description

Continental Properties is looking for a Centralized Leasing and Admin Specialist to join our Operations team.

As the Centralized Leasing and Admin Specialist, you will play a critical role in enhancing the customer experience and ensuring application accuracy by supporting the administrative and documentation process for new applicants. You will support our onsite community teams and elevate the overall prospect to resident experience, helping ensure customers move through the leasing journey smoothly, accurately, and confidently. This includes reviewing applicant documents, confirming data accuracy, identifying potential fraud, and communicating with customers to ensure all required information is submitted. Your work directly contributes to stronger compliance, faster decision making, and greater consistency across our communities.

If you excel in organization, communication, and problem solving—and enjoy supporting both customers and onsite teams—this is an excellent opportunity to make an impact.

This position can work remote within any of our core markets (CO, MN, IL, WI, GA, FL, MI, AZ). Candidates must reside within one hour of a Continental community as this role will require periodic visits to supported communities and visits to our home office in Menomonee, WI.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage outbound and inbound communication (phone, email, text) with applicants to gather required documentation within 48 hours of application completion.
  • Thoroughly review and verify credit reports, income documents, and identification materials to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with company standards.
  • Verify the accuracy of applicant demographics and follow up with applicants to obtain missing or corrected information as needed.
  • Monitor, track, and communicate documentation trends, accuracy patterns, and process gaps to Operations Leadership to support ongoing improvement.
  • Partner closely with Community Managers to provide timely application updates and clearly outline next steps to ensure 100% document completion prior to approval.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and support tasks assigned to meet business and operational needs.

    Skills for Success:

    • Associate’s Degree required or equivalent experience
    • One (1) or more years of apartment leasing experience preferred
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Comfortable navigating multiple systems and conducting system audits for accuracy and compliance
    • Strong organization and timemanagement to manage high volumes of applications and documentation deadlines
    • Experience with Property Management Systems (PMS), particularly OneSite, strongly preferred
    • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
