Job description

About The Team:

Grocery and Retail is a startup within Uber, a team focussed on growth, but with the support and leverage of Uber's large global ridesharing and delivery businesses. It is the delivery of everything that isn't restaurant food - think groceries, essentials, alcohol, pharmaceuticals, pet, beauty, and more... We are creating something brand new! As the business grows, so does the complexity and volume of our internal operations - and that's where you come in.

We are seeking a highly capable and operations-minded Program Manager to help scale our support for key merchant accounts. In this role, you will be the engine behind the team's ability to do more - enabling Partner Coordinators in their day-to-day workflows, owning recurring workflows, simplifying manual processes, and identifying ways to make our Commercial teams run better, faster, and more automatically over time.

You'll spend your first months deeply understanding our internal tooling and operational gaps, building automation flows and developing a programmatic approach to scaling our most critical recurring tasks, and identifying opportunities to streamline and automate workflows. You'll be the first point of contact for Partner Coordinators who work alongside our Enterprise Partner Managers to execute against joint business priorities, optimizing partnerships to provide maximum value for both Uber and its merchant partners. You will also develop strong cross-functional relationships to build sustainable infrastructure that enables our team to scale their impact across a growing merchant portfolio.

You will succeed in this role if: you produce your best results in a team environment; you possess an insatiable appetite to continuously learn; you value ideas over hierarchy and merchant obsession runs in your DNA. This is a unique opportunity to build scalable operations within a high-growth vertical at Uber, while directly improving how we support some of our most important merchants.

What You'll Do:

  • Support the Partner Coordinator team who are responsible for excellent merchant experience, operational improvements and some growth initiatives with our strategic and priority enterprise accounts
  • Own the scalability of recurrings tasks and workflows while reimagining the infrastructure that will enable our teams to prioritize high impact initiatives as the complexity and volume of our internal operations continue to grow
  • Identify, scope and lead implementation of commercial-wide strategic and operational improvement activities incl. growth initiatives, productivity opportunities, processes optimisation, etc.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and work cross-functionally and with operations and product teams to guide the development of solutions based on business and merchant needs. Set and measure key performance indicators for all workstream improvements you oversee.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in an operations, systems, or program management role - ideally in a fast-paced or tech-driven environment
  • Track record of effectively managing a complex set of business and partner priorities
  • Commercial acumen. Understanding of how businesses and organisations work and how to navigate a partner's business.
  • Project management and organisational skills. Proactive, creative and flexible. Experience working cross-functionally preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading high performing merchant facing teams
  • Experience with process improvement, efficiency and optimisation
  • Fluency in SQL and ability to independently query data  analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience with automation tools or low-code platforms (e.g. Google Apps Script)
