Mainframe Engineer Lead

REMOTE

Contract

Industry: Banking / Financial Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with engineering teams to evaluate hardware/software interfaces and define system requirements

  • Maintain and enhance software systems and automation frameworks

  • Develop and execute system testing and validation procedures

  • Communicate project status, technical designs, and issues to stakeholders

  • Lead software development and documentation effortsWork across full SDLC (requirements, development, testing, delivery)

  • Troubleshoot automation and system issues and implement fixes

  • Support monitoring and event management tools across the enterprise

  • Collaborate with mainframe platform teams on automation initiatives

Must Have Skills

โ€ข Strong proficiency in z/OS (MVS) operations in a large-scale environment with multiple Sysplex systems (including IPL procedures)

โ€ข Current working knowledge of subsystems: JES2, SDSF, RACF, TSO, TCP/IP, Control-M, CICS, DB2

โ€ข Expertise in NetView customization and REXX programming

โ€ข Strong experience with System Automation:

  • Policy database customization

  • Command list creation

  • NetView automation tables management

โ€ข Knowledge of SA-plex and cross-system automation

โ€ข Experience with monitoring and alerting on exceptions

โ€ข Strong problem determination & resolution skills with solid debugging and analytical ability

  • Nice to Have

โ€ข Experience with OPS/MVS

โ€ข ITSM knowledge (ITIL certification is a plus)
