POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Data and Analytics is responsible for leading the strategy, delivery, and operational support of enterprise data and analytics capabilities. This role oversees data engineering, data modeling, reporting, dashboards, and analytics solutions that enable informed decision-making across the organization. The Director partners closely with business, IT, compliance, and operational leaders to prioritize high-value use cases, improve data quality, advance governance standards, and deliver scalable data products. This position also leads and develops a team of data engineers, visualization developers, and analysts, with primary focus on people leadership, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and delivery execution.

Work Schedule: Remote First

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Owns the creation and ongoing maintenance of a multi-year data and analytics strategy aligned to enterprise business objectives.
  • Aligns with data governance and stewardship teams to ensure data quality, lineage, metadata, data definitions, stewardship, and certified KPI/reporting standards are consistent with enterprise standards.
  • Establishes a data product mindset for dashboards, semantic models, curated datasets, and reporting solutions, including ownership, lifecycle management, adoption, and support expectations.
  • Partners with business leaders to understand operational needs, identify opportunities for efficiency, and support adoption of enterprise data and analytics solutions.
  • Directs and coordinates resources to support development through an agile methodology.
  • Oversees the implementation and maintenance of enterprise data engineering pipelines and scalable data integration processes.
  • Maintains a transparent backlog of business requests and understands the priority and urgency of each item.
  • Manages time, priorities, and customer expectations across multiple projects.
  • Collaborates with IT and business teams to establish data and design architectures that support long term enterprise goals and requirements.
  • Mentors and develops team members in skills needed to support data and analytics functions, including coding, visualization best practices, application administration, configuration, stakeholder engagement, and business analysis.
  • Builds, leads, and develops direct and indirect team members, including identifying staffing needs, supporting position requests, and participating in the recruitment and selection of qualified candidates.
  • Identifies, communicates, and mitigates risks that may impact delivery timelines, solution adoption, operational stability, or expected business value.
  • Recommends and influences changes to data, reporting, and development standards when needed to improve quality, scalability, or business value.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Reads and abides by the company’s code of conduct, ethics statements, employee handbook(s), policies and procedures and other corporate mandates, including participation in mandatory training programs.
  • Reports any real or suspected violation of the corporate compliance program, company policies and procedures, harassment, or other prohibited activities in accordance with the reporting policies of the company.
  • Obtains clarification of policy whenever necessary and may use the resources available through the Compliance, Human Resources or Legal Department

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • Proven experience leading data engineering, analytics, reporting, or BI teams;
  • Proven record of coaching professionals both in a formal and an informal role.
  • Proven experience implementing cloud data platforms, data warehouses/lakehouses, data marts, and semantic models.
  • Experience with enterprise reporting platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms and cloud data environments;
  • Experience with data protection requirements, including HIPAA, PHI, and data privacy.
  • Understanding of healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, APIs.
  • Familiarity with data governance, stewardship, metadata, and data quality practices;
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with both business and technical teams.
  • Ability to quickly understand business processes and the underlying needs filled by those processes.
  • Experience creating detailed requirements documents, design documents, and workflows.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate with all levels of management and team members.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited College or University in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field; 8–10 years of progressive experience in data, analytics, business intelligence, or technology leadership required, including experience leading teams
