Scope of Work:
U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) is the single manager for global patient movement for the Department of War (DoW), responsible for synchronizing transportation and medical evacuation to provide life-saving care to warfighters across the spectrum of military operations.
TRAC2ES is a critical system for the DoW supporting global patient movement operations by integrating medical regulating, patient evacuation, and command and control decision support, ensuring efficient and secure patient movement across peace, war, and contingency scenarios. TRAC2ES handles sensitive data, including Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI), and operates within both classified and unclassified environments.
USTRANSCOM seeks innovative solutions to enhance, sustain, and modernize TRAC2ES. The solution must address challenges in scalability, performance, cybersecurity, interoperability, and operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with DoW standards. Additionally, the solution must include options for transitioning TRAC2ES functionality to a secure, user-friendly mobile application to improve accessibility and operational efficiency in diverse operational environments. The solution must optimize TRAC2ES's capabilities to meet evolving mission requirements while ensuring compliance with DoW standards, including Zero Trust (ZT) principles.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for supporting automation efforts with a focus on troubleshooting and implementing solutions to improve DevSecOps practices; experience with automation tools such as Ansible or PowerShell and responsible for the execution of the following tasks:
  • Troubleshooting, triaging, or resolving automation issues using Ansible or PowerShell
  • Develop tools and processes to drive DevSecOps maturity by automating builds, regression testing, monitoring, and pushing releases across environments
  • Write code using languages like Python, Java, or C#, and configure controls like PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs
  • Develop simulations and QA tests to ensure systems perform safely, efficiently, and without bugs before deployment
  • Analyze current production workflows or business logic to identify new opportunities for automation

Requirements/Experience:
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of automation tools including Ansible, version control systems including Git, operating systems including RHEL and Windows, and virtualization including VMware; Knowledge of Agile development
  • Experience with designing and implementing robust, scalable, and efficient CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC);
  • Experience with application containerization
  • Experience with modeling network configuration in JSON and YAML
  • Experience with network automation in Python and Ansible
  • Knowledge of networking principles and concepts
  • Knowledge of API design and object-oriented principles
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification or higher DoD 8570 cybersecurity certification
  • Familiarity with software delivery methodologies such as agile/scrum
  • Strong problem-solving and design skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
