In this setup, the developer provides services through their own corporation or a staffing agency’s corporation, rather than as a direct employee (W2). This arrangement is common for contract work and allows for more flexibility in work location and project selection. C2C positions often require developers to manage their own taxes and benefits.

Familiarity with tools like Spring Framework, version control systems (such as Git), and build automation tools, along with experience in cloud platforms or CI/CD pipelines, is typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for remote collaboration and project delivery. These skills ensure you can build robust applications, coordinate efficiently with distributed teams, and deliver quality code in contract-based remote environments.

  • Familiarity or experience with test automation frameworks (such as Cypress.io, TestRail, Selenium, and Jenkins) as applied within a backend or full-cycle engineering context.

Desirable Skills (Nice to Have)

  • AI experience.
  • Risk and compliance experience.
  • Database management and data migration experience, including work with specific database technologies like Oracle, RDS, and DynamoDB.
  • Cloud platform experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Interview Process

  • Two interview rounds are planned, with at least one live, shared-screen coding assessment.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Technical Direction & Architecture: Lead and give technical direction to fellow engineers while authoring extensive architecture and design documents utilizing distributed system design, algorithms, logging frameworks, scaling, and microservices principles.
  • Backend Code Development: Write high-quality, testable, expert-level Java code within a backend-focused full-cycle engineering framework, maintaining a clear understanding of the complete SDLC.
  • Cloud & Payments Application Engineering: Design, build, and deploy scalable cloud-native applications inside public cloud infrastructures, specifically optimizing core backend infrastructure for the payments industry.
  • Database & Migration Management: Administer and integrate applications with enterprise database technologies, supporting backend data migration initiatives and utilizing expert-level communication protocols.
  • Version Control Tracking: Oversee and manage codebase integration using precise merge methodologies across version control platforms like Git, GitLab, BitBucket, etc.
  • Cross-Domain Troubleshooting: Deliver excellent troubleshooting and issue resolution skills, demonstrating the capacity to quickly isolate and debug complex technical issues even when they occur in areas outside of your immediate domain.
