Job description

Apex isย seeking aย talented Project Managerย withย Stormwater Infrastructure and Water Resourcesย experienceย to join ourย Northeast Divisionย Stormwater Infrastructure Group.ย 

The candidate selected for this position must reside near one of the following Apex offices: ย Quincy, MA, Woburn, MA,ย Providence, RI, andย Glastonbury, CT. They will have the option of working in the office full-time, working a hybrid schedule or working from home but they must be available to travel to local client and project sites.ย 

The selected employee will provide technical leadershipย and project managementย for a variety ofย municipal andย privateย stormwater and water resourcesย projects, includingย ย 

  • Hydraulic-Hydrologic (H-H) modelingย 
  • Bridge, culvert and drainage system design ย 
  • Inland and coastal flood mitigation planning and design ย 
  • Civil site design and gradingย 

Your Responsibilities as a Project Manager:

  • Work as a stormwater and water resources subject matter expert and be responsible for technical project delivery and design, scheduling, budgeting, and client management.ย ย 
  • Supervise and direct individuals or teams of technical staff on complex projects and/or multiple smallerย projects.ย 
  • Assist in the training and technical development of staff by various means including holding training seminars, providing technical guidance during project execution, and bringing new technical developments in-house.ย 
  • Assist with strategic planning, training, proposals, and business development.ย 
  • Consult with other technical staff and Project Managers on technical challengesย in theย stormwater and water resourcesย disciplineย while also providing independentย technical reviews onย stormwater and water resources components ofย projectsย for other disciplines.ย ย 
  • Overseeย the technical accuracy ofย projectย through regular communications with project staff, review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with the firm's standards.ย 
  • Recognize the potential risks of nonstandard technical matters or potential legal disputes by participating in required project risk and insurance training to minimize the firm's liability.ย 
  • Present project updates and technicalย informationย to the client and at public meetings to review and discuss project detailsย 

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor of Scienceย Degreeย in an Engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of related experience in stormwater and water resources, including design and project management
  • Registered Professional Engineerย in the State of Massachusetts, or the ability to obtain same by reciprocityย ย 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, staff, subconsultants and contractors through effective leadership, and demonstrated written and verbal communication skillsย 
  • Strong understanding of state and federal regulatory framework and experience interacting with regulators in the local and technical areas where Apex does workย 
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skillsย ย 
  • Strong desire to manage and mentor junior staffย 
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
