About the Department
The Maintenance Planning Division is the hub of all maintenance activities at CAP and all maintenance workflow processes must pass through this division prior to execution. The Maintenance Planning Division is responsible for Planning and Scheduling of all Maintenance Work activities and resource coordination across the CAP. Properly planned and scheduled maintenance work has been shown to be 3-5 times safer and more cost effective than unplanned work.
About the Responsibilities
The Senior Maintenance Planneris the primary liaison with Water Operations and all Support groups. The Planner maintains the long-range Master Maintenance Schedule and manages workforce productivity by anticipating and eliminating delays through effective planning and coordination of system outages, manpower, materials, and equipment. The Planner analyzes all non-emergency work to be performed, determines task sequence and methodology, negotiates equipment outages, identifies required labor skills, performs job costing and labor estimates, procures necessary materials, and produces multi-craft job packages and weekly labor capacity schedules for the Work Execution Supervisors.
The Heavy Overhaul Group's (HOG's) Centralized Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling heavy mechanical overhaul work across the entire system. This includes disbursed work across all 336 miles of concrete lined canals, system pipelines, 10 large siphons and 9 small siphons, three tunnels, 15 pumping plants (including one pump/generating plant), 39 check structures, 42 customer turnout facilities and six recharge facilities. The work includes: Pumping Plants main unit repairs, overhauls, preventative maintenance, and asset modifications; Pumping Plants discharge valve repairs, replacements, preventative maintenance, and asset modifications; Radial Check structure work, Customer Turnout repairs, preventative maintenance, and asset modifications; and coordinating work between pumping plant maintenance groups, Industrial Coatings group, In-house Machine/Fabrication/Weld shop groups; contractors, vendors, and CAP operations.
This position requires you to be the primary liaison with Water Operations, Plant Maintenance personnel, maintenance Engineering, Engineering Project Management, and Centralized Support groups. This primary focus of this position is to develop plans (manpower, materials, tools, parts, equipment, contracts, procedures, clearances, etc. as required to perform the work) and schedules (in Infor EAM) for routine & invasive plant maintenance and repair work. This includes performing job costing and labor estimates, load balance known work, creating detailed materials/parts lists, and producing complete multi-craft job packages and 1 to 6 week labor capacity schedules for the Work Execution Supervisors.
This position will also maintain the long-range Master Maintenance Schedule, manage work order backlog, develop detailed operational outage plans, manage workforce productivity through effective planning and coordination of system outages, and continuously look for ways to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the planned and scheduled work.
About the Qualifications
A successful candidate for these positions will have a related bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of work experience; a related associate's degree plus five (5) years of work experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent plus seven (7) years of work experience as a journeyman, industrial electrician, mechanic, building trades craftsman, electronics technician, equipment operator, project engineer, or project manager in a related field. Additionally, you must have good administrative, math, and communication skills; strong planning and organization skills; a solid understanding of work order processes, priorities, and schedules; and the ability to read shop drawings and prints.
Also, having the knowledge of and ability to use and apply standards and codes including OSHA, NEC, ASME, ANSI, and EPA regulations to maintenance work. Having working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project (or other scheduling software), and Infor (or similar work management systems) is a plus!
