Job description

Position SummaryParabit Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician with a strong background in commercial access control systems. The primary responsibility of this position is to install, configure, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot access control equipment, including controllers, card readers, request-to-exit devices, door position switches, power supplies, electric strikes, magnetic locks, electrified exit hardware, and related low-voltage wiring and network connections. The technician will also support Parabit's PC-based kiosks, digital signage, video surveillance, and other self-service and customer-experience systems.Primary ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, test, commission, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial access control systems.Work with access control panels and controllers, card readers, credentials, door position switches, request-to-exit devices, power supplies, relays, electric strikes, magnetic locks, electrified exit devices, and related door hardware.Diagnose and resolve access control problems involving wiring, power, device communication, door hardware, network connectivity, system configuration, and software.Verify proper locking, unlocking, monitoring, alarm-event reporting within the access control platform, and life-safety operation of controlled openings.Pull, terminate, label, test, and document low-voltage cabling in accordance with applicable codes, project requirements, and company standards.Install and replace door locks, exit devices, closers, hinges, strikes, magnetic locks, and related hardware as required for access control installations.Configure IP addresses, network settings, controllers, readers, and other connected devices, and coordinate with customer IT personnel when necessary.Conduct site surveys, verify field conditions, identify equipment and material requirements, and attend project or site coordination meetings when needed.Support the installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of Parabit kiosks, digital signage, analog and IP video surveillance systems, and other PC-based products.Provide professional on-site, telephone, and remote technical support, including basic customer and end-user training.Communicate promptly with dispatch, customers, project personnel, subcontractors, and internal departments regarding arrival times, work status, delays, follow-up requirements, and completion.Complete service reports, inspection forms, photographs, time records, travel records, parts usage, and all other required documentation accurately and on time.Clearly document the reported issue, inspection findings, root cause, work performed, parts and materials used, system status, and any additional work required.Maintain assigned service-part inventory, company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicle in an organized and professional condition.Work independently and collaboratively with Parabit employees, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.Participate in scheduled on-call support and respond to after-hours emergency service requests when required.Follow OSHA requirements, safe-work practices, customer site rules, and all applicable local and national codes.Required QualificationsThree to five years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, or troubleshooting commercial access control systems.Strong practical knowledge of access control wiring, controllers, card readers, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, power supplies, relays, electric locking hardware, and system commissioning.Experience troubleshooting access control issues at the device, wiring, power, network, configuration, and software levels.Familiarity with commercial door hardware, including electric strikes, magnetic locks, electrified exit devices, closers, hinges, and related components.Experience pulling, terminating, labeling, and testing low-voltage cable in compliance with applicable electrical and building codes.Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, basic IP configuration, and connectivity troubleshooting.Ability to safely and confidently use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and mechanical equipment required for field installations and repairs.Professional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers and document work in detail.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to use mobile applications, dispatch systems, and electronic service forms.Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a company vehicle.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work above shoulder height, bend, kneel, and perform physical field work.Ability to manage time effectively, travel throughout the assigned territory, work independently, and complete assigned work within scheduled timeframes.Preferred QualificationsExperience with enterprise access control platforms, networked controllers, remote management software, and multi-site customer environments.Experience with analog or IP video surveillance, PC-based kiosks, digital signage, or other self-service systems.Manufacturer certifications or formal training in access control, low-voltage, networking, door hardware, or
