Position Overview

Solaris Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and culturally competent Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our dynamic team. This full-time, remote position involves working with clients in Houston, Texas, within a community health clinic framework. As an LMFT, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating emotional healing and relational growth among families and individuals, addressing a range of psychological and familial issues.

About the Organization

Solaris Counseling Services is committed to fostering mental wellness through accessible and compassionate therapy. We prioritize community engagement and cultural sensitivity, ensuring that our clients feel understood and empowered. Our holistic approach integrates evidence-based therapeutic practices, enriching both the therapist-client relationship and our broader mission to enhance community mental health.

Work Environment

This role is fully remote, allowing for flexibility and convenience. As part of a community health clinic, you will engage with clients in various settings, including telehealth platforms. This arrangement promotes a comfortable environment conducive to healing while maintaining a collaborative relationship with colleagues who share a commitment to mental health advocacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe and assess intra-familial dynamics to gain insight into client relationships and functioning.
  • Facilitate sessions focused on identifying and addressing perceptions of disruptions in family structures.
  • Provide guidance on accessing beneficial local resources to support clientsโ€™ therapeutic journeys.
  • Uncover underlying issues that contribute to family dysfunction, implementing strategies to address these concerns effectively.
  • Support clients in processing grief and other negative emotional states, fostering resilience and coping skills.
  • Advise families and individuals on stabilizing their home and educational environments to promote healing.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports that serve as expert evidence during legal proceedings when necessary.
  • Deliver unbiased and informed expert testimony as needed to support clients and their families.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work primarily with families, couples, and individuals who seek support for a variety of challenges, including relationship conflicts, mental health disorders, trauma, grief, and life transitions. Your approach should be tailored and inclusive, respecting the diverse cultural backgrounds of our clients to ensure impactful therapeutic outcomes.

Qualifications
  • A master's or doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • A valid and current LMFT license issued by the state of Texas.
  • Completion of state-required postgraduate supervised clinical hoursโ€”typically around one yearโ€”garnered through hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conducting individual, couples, and family therapy using evidence-based techniques.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic abilities to effectively address mental health and relational issues.
  • Experience in developing comprehensive, individualized treatment plans that cater to each clientโ€™s unique needs.
Preferred Experience
  • Working knowledge of community resources and support systems available to clients in Houston.
  • Experience with telehealth platforms and remote patient management practices.
  • Engagement with diverse client populations, particularly those from historically marginalized communities.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, our benefits package includes a 401(k) plan, comprehensive health insurance, dental and vision coverage, flexible scheduling, generous paid time off, and opportunities for professional development to enhance your clinical skills.

At Solaris Counseling Services, we value continuous learning and career advancement. We provide resources and support for ongoing education and certifications, allowing you to expand your expertise and elevate your career within the field of marriage and family therapy. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals and engage in peer supervision.
