What are some common challenges faced during remote internships and how can interns overcome them?

Remote internships can present challenges such as navigating communication barriers, managing time effectively, and feeling disconnected from the team. To overcome these, interns should proactively schedule regular check-ins with their supervisor, use collaboration tools to stay engaged, and establish a structured daily routine. Seeking feedback and participating in virtual team activities can also help build relationships and ensure a fulfilling remote internship experience.

What is the difference between Remote Internships vs Remote Entry-Level Positions?

AspectRemote InternshipsRemote Entry-Level Positions
CredentialsTypically students or recent graduates, minimal experience neededUsually requires some relevant skills or coursework, but not extensive experience
Work EnvironmentTemporary, learning-focused, often part-time or project-basedFull-time or part-time roles with more defined responsibilities
Industry UsageCommon in education, non-profits, startupsWidespread across industries like tech, marketing, finance
Search & Comparison IntentLooking for entry-level, learning opportunitiesSeeking initial professional experience or a stepping stone

Remote Internships are typically short-term, learning-focused opportunities for students or recent graduates, often with minimal experience required. Remote Entry-Level Positions are more permanent roles that require some relevant skills and offer more responsibility. Both serve as entry points into a career but differ mainly in duration and depth of responsibilities.

What are remote internships?

Remote internships are work placements that allow interns to complete their tasks and gain professional experience from a location outside of the traditional office, typically from home or any place with internet access. These internships are conducted online, using digital communication and collaboration tools to interact with supervisors and team members. Remote internships offer flexibility and can provide access to opportunities with companies regardless of geographic location. They are popular in fields like marketing, software development, design, and writing, among others. While they require self-motivation and good time management, remote internships are a valuable way to build skills and gain work experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a remote internship, and why are they important?

To thrive in a remote internship, candidates typically need strong self-motivation, time management, and foundational knowledge in their field of study or interest. Familiarity with digital collaboration tools like Zoom, Slack, and Google Workspace, as well as basic proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Excel, project management platforms), is important. Excellent written communication, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving are crucial soft skills for virtual teamwork and independent work. These skills and qualities enable remote interns to contribute effectively, stay organized, and make the most of learning opportunities without direct in-person supervision.

Brand & Content Strategy Intern (Remote)Help Shape the Voice of Loud Baby

Loud Baby is a neighborhood community business (cafรฉ clothing Clubhouse)ย  in Brooklyn, where artists, families, runners, commuters, and coffee lovers come together over house-baked pastries and exceptional coffee..

We're looking for a creative and organized student who wants real-world experience in brand marketing, social media strategy, and content planning.

This is a remote internship with flexible hours, making it ideal for students studying Marketing, Communications, Business, Digital Media, Journalism, Graphic Design, or Public Relations.

Help transform our existing photos, videos, and marketing materials into engaging social media content that tells the story of Loud Baby.

Rather than creating content from scratch every day, you'll help us organize, polish, and strategically publish content that reflects our unique identity and grows our online community.

  • Edit and polish content for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook
  • Create captions that reflect the Loud Baby brand and voice
  • Develop a monthly social media content calendar

  • Suggest creative campaigns that celebrate our customers and neighborhood
  • Identify opportunities to highlight our house-baked pastries, specialty coffee, coffee beans, artists, runners, parents, and community events
  • Recommend fresh ideas to increase engagement and attract new customers
  • Help strengthen and maintain a consistent brand identity across all platforms

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Enjoys storytelling through social media
  • Has strong writing and communication skills
  • Is organized and can plan content in advance
  • Understands Instagram and TikTok trends
  • Likes working independently
  • Has an eye for aesthetics and branding
  • Wants to build a professional marketing portfolio

Bonus Skills

  • Canva
  • CapCut
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Later, Buffer, or other scheduling platforms
  • Photography or video editing
  • Copywriting

What You'll Gain

This internship offers hands-on experience in:

  • Brand strategy
  • Social media management
  • Content marketing
  • Community building
  • Editorial planning
  • Digital storytelling
  • Marketing analytics

By the end of the internship, you'll have created a professional portfolio that demonstrates your ability to manage a brand, build a content strategy, and execute a social media calendarโ€”valuable experience for careers in marketing, communications, and digital media.

Schedule

  • Remote
  • 8โ€“12 hours per week
  • Flexible around class schedules
  • Weekly virtual check-in with the Loud Baby team

Who should apply?

We're looking for someone who sees social media as more than posting pictures. We want someone who understands that every post contributes to a brand's story and community.

If you're excited about helping a beloved neighborhood cafรฉ grow its digital presence while gaining meaningful marketing experience, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply, please send:

  • Your rรฉsumรฉ (if available)
  • Links to any social media accounts, design work, writing samples, or creative projects
  • A brief note telling us why you'd like to help tell the Loud Baby story.
