Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Location: Salt lake city, UT Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: $52.88 - $67.3 Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote Hours: 40.0

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical engineering and design execution of industrial projects ranging from small facility upgrades to large capital installations.
  • Develop and support mechanical designs for equipment, process systems, plant infrastructure, and related industrial assets.
  • Perform and oversee mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, including design development, technical review, and implementation.
  • Prepare and review equipment specifications, material specifications, technical bid packages, and vendor evaluations.
  • Define project scope and establish technical requirements for engineering deliverables.
  • Direct and coordinate the work of engineers, designers, drafters, and technical specialists assigned to project activities.
  • Ensure alignment of mechanical design criteria with process, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in project planning and technical review meetings to establish design requirements and address engineering issues.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, and startup phases.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and scope; review and approve engineering changes affecting project execution.
  • Conduct technical quality reviews of drawings, calculations, specifications, and engineering documents to verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Prepare and support change management documentation for project budgets, schedules, quantities, and engineering scope modifications when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of five years of industrial mechanical engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial processing systems, piping design, mechanical equipment layout, and engineering drafting standards.
  • Experience leading engineering and design personnel while actively contributing to technical project deliverables.
  • Familiarity with executing projects from initial concept development through commissioning and operational startup.
  • Proficiency in material selection, piping system analysis, and stress evaluation of platework and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret and develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).
  • Strong application of engineering principles, calculations, and analytical methods to industrial design challenges.
  • Experience working with mechanical integrity programs and industry standards including API, ASME, MSS, ASTM, and related governing codes.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to satisfy pre-employment screening requirements, including drug testing where applicable.
