Our team members are collaborative, creative, professional, expert and entrepreneurial.  Joining our team requires skill, daring, leadership, teaming, humor and a love of interiors.  We are presently searching for a Senior Project Architect in Portland, OR, contributing to the success of our projects in Northern California. This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel required.

The Senior Project Architect is responsible for leading all design phases for interiors projects including establishing the vision, leading the team and having extensive interaction with the client, and is responsible for leading all project design phases for interiors projects in project administration, design development and contract documents.

 Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Develops overall design for project. 
  • Directs staff to complete design and technical drawings. Reviews design and technical drawings of other more junior designers. 
  • Review of engineering drawings to ensure they comply with the design solution. 
  • Works with technical staff to resolve inconsistencies in drawings.
  • Ensures technical adherence to office and firm-wide standards by providing technical viewpoint on projects. 
  •  Directs staff to complete construction documents (CDs).  Review CDs to ensure compliance with firm standards, mechanical, building systems, codes and ADA requirements.  Works with other design staff to provide technical solutions for design dilemmas.
  • On larger projects, manages project through contract administration phase.
  • On larger projects, coordinates engineering consultant's work to ensure compliance with design solution and timely submission of documents.
  • Researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projects. Obtain client approval and ensure integration into overall design.
  • Produces, reviews and finalizes space plans for projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of detailing and finalizes details on projects.
  • Develops and delivers overall design and furniture packages. Reviews and produces final cost estimates.
  • Manages overall design budget. Ensures adherence to set budget and immediately informs Project Manager and / or client of any potential variances to the budget.
  • Manages the work of other designers and Technical staff. Oversees tasks and provides feedback on work product.
  • Organizes and conducts client interviews to determine space needs and technical requirements for the design. Continues to provide needed information to client on design specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of architecture or design school: equivalent experience may be substituted
  • 12+ years' experience in corporate interior design projects
