Job description

About the Infectious Diseases Society of America
IDSA is a community of over 13,000 physicians, scientists, and public health experts who specialize in infectious diseases. Our mission is to improve the health of individuals, communities, and Society by promoting excellence in patient care, education, research, public health, and prevention relating to infectious diseases.
As public health challenges like antimicrobial resistance become more urgent, there is a growing need for mission-aligned partnerships that serve to strengthen the infectious diseases workforce and advance the field. As the primary fundraising partner for the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the IDSA Foundation engages corporate and industry partners to support initiatives that equip ID professionals with education and training, advance evidence-based research, and disseminate trusted, nonpartisan health information. As Director of Strategic Partnerships and Corporate Relations, you will manage an established portfolio of corporate and industry partners, while leading strategies to develop new partnerships and funding opportunities.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development and supervising one direct report, you will be the Foundation's lead relationship manager for corporate partnerships, strategic alliances, industry engagement, sponsorships, advisory boards, executive roundtables, and industry-supported initiatives. Working closely with the Senior Director, Foundation leadership, volunteer leaders, and external stakeholders, you will lead all activities related to partnership development, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and long-term relationship management.
Drawing on your strong understanding of the priorities and pain points of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and diagnostics partners, as well as relevant compliance requirements, regulatory considerations, and engagement guidelines, you'll develop and execute partnership strategies that align partner interests with Foundation priorities. These may include workforce development, thought leadership, research, education, and public health. You will build a consistent pipeline of partnership and sponsorship opportunities that deliver mutual value, generate sustainable revenue, and strengthen strategic relationships in support of the Foundation's mission
How You'll Make an Impact
You will help build a strategic approach to corporate relationships and partner engagement so that team members across the Foundation recognize how strategic partnerships advance the mission and understand their roles in supporting those relationships. In your first 1-2 years, you will:
  • Achieve annual revenue goals across corporate partnerships, strategic alliances, and sponsorships.
  • Grow and diversify the pipeline of corporate and industry partnership prospects, using targeted cultivation and solicitation strategies to build interest and advance viable opportunities.
  • Develop new strategic alliances and funding opportunities while retaining and expanding existing partner relationships, strengthening the Foundation's approach to engagement, stewardship, and impact reporting.
  • Oversee the successful execution of advisory boards, executive roundtables, and other sponsored initiatives that deliver value to partners while advancing the Foundation's priorities.
  • Lead partnership pipeline management, performance tracking, revenue forecasting, and reporting to support effective decision-making, while ensuring that partnership activities align with Foundation policies and compliance requirements.

Work Environment, Salary, and Benefits
  • This position offers a remote working environment, with core working hours between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm ET. Candidates may reside anywhere in the continental U.S. except California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. Travel of up to 20% is required for donor engagement, IDWeek, and internal retreats and meetings.
  • This position offers a competitive total compensation package. Benefits include generous PTO; medical, dental, and vision insurance; flexible spending account; 401(k); short- and long-term disability; life and AD&D insurance; and more.
  • The Society is a great place to work! We are an innovative and dynamic professional association committed to the principles of inclusion, diversity, access, and equity. Our team embodies the following core values: Member-Centric, Excellence, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork, and Trust.

Responsibilities
Corporate Partnership Development & Revenue Generation
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of corporate partners and prospective funders.
  • Create and execute strategies to secure new and expanded funding opportunities.
  • Lead partner cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and stewardship activities.
  • Develop multi-year partnership agreements and long-term engagement strategies.
  • Contribute to annual revenue forecasting and budget planning.

Strategic Partnerships & Business Development
  • Identify and develop strategic alliances that advance Foundation priorities.
  • Cultivate relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, healthcare technology, and related organizations.
  • Explore new partnership models that create value for both the Foundation and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent the Foundation in meetings, conferences, and industry engagements.

Advisory Boards, Roundtables & Sponsored Initiatives
  • Lead planning and execution of advisory boards, executive roundtables, and strategic convenings.
  • Develop funding opportunities for workforce development, public health, education, research, and other Foundation initiatives.
  • Support development of white papers, reports, and other partner deliverables.

Industry Engagement & Market Intelligence
  • Monitor industry trends, therapeutic developments, healthcare priorities, and funding opportunities.
  • Identify emerging areas for strategic engagement and partnership growth.
  • Provide market intelligence and recommendations to Foundation leadership.

Partner Stewardship & Relationship Management
  • Ensure fulfillment of partnership commitments and funding agreements.
  • Develop stewardship strategies and impact reporting.
  • Support retention and growth of existing corporate partners.

Pipeline Management, Analytics & Reporting
  • Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and partnership opportunities.
  • Track proposal activity, revenue forecasts, and portfolio performance.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards for Foundation leadership.

Staff Leadership & Other Duties

  • Plan and manage team capacity effectively.
  • Model a coaching style for feedback and learning to support staff in contributing at highest levels.
  • Support departmental planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate partnerships, sponsorships, business development, strategic alliances, healthcare relations, fundraising, or related fields. Healthcare sector experience, including work with pharmaceutical or diagnostics companies, is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated success developing partnership strategies, managing business development pipelines, and securing and growing five- and six-figure partnerships, sponsorships, and other revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, proposal development, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage corporate partners, sponsors, volunteers, and board members to advance opportunities and meet revenue goals.
  • Experience supervising and developing staff and collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce, including data analysis and forecasting.
